must not curl over the back.
|

children. |

trim the Cairn Terriers coat, except for the shaping of their feet. Weekly
brushing or rubbing with a damp towel is needed. Minimal bathing. Pay
special attention to their teeth and nails. |

be trained not to. |
|
Activity: The Cairn Terrier's
exercise should consist of free roaming in a fenced yard or daily walks. |
|
Life Span: The Cairn
Terrier lives about 12-15 years. |
|
Litter Size: The
Cairn Terrier averages about 3-5 puppies per litter. |
|
Country of Origin:
The Cairn Terrier originated in Scotland. |
|
Brief History: The
breed's roots are from the old scotch terrier, and it is related to the
Dandie Dinmont, Scottish, Skye and West Highland White Terriers. The Cairn
is probably the closest to the conformation of their common progenitor than
any of the other terriers. The breed's country of origin was Scotland, and
it came from either the Isle of Skye, the other Western Hebrides or the
rocky slopes of the nearby Highlands of mainland Scotland. |
