One of the original big hits of Intellivision, I really can't remember playing anything like it before. Simple, yet evilly addictive, this game can go on forever (or so it seems). Your just a cannon on the planet, trying to blow up as many asteroids as possible, thank God for the auto-fire, the twist is that for each asteroid that hits the planet, your score decreases. To make the game harder there are bombs dropping at different speeds and sizes, if they land you loose a cannon. Then they throw the guided bombs at you, which you can escape by using hyperspace or moving out of the way just before it hits you. Look out for the Alien Ships too. I think the addiction comes from the high amount of men you can rack up, added to the hypnotic background color change. Anyone remember that nasty pinkish-purple level? All in all a simple, great game, that you can really get into. Some cell phone company has now licensed Astrosmash for their phones, what a kick ass idea.
