2001: a Space Odyssey

Stanley Kubrick directs this icon of science fiction pictures, revolutionary in special effects, and with an intelligent plot. A flight to Jupiter is taking place and the crew, most of them in hibernation, soon find themselves in the mercy of the spaceship's controlling computer, HAL 9000, that has gone haywire. The ending, while confusing and essentially incomprehensible, is still a treat to watch.
