Back to the Beach
Now here's the needed proof that 1960's surfing flicks and 1980's punks will never mix. Since the 1960's, surfing king, Frankie Avalon and his chic, Anette Funicello, marry and have children. Concerned that their daughter may be wasting her life away living with surfer dudes, they travel to the beach one day to check on her. Of course, when they get there, they can't help but to relive their adolescent years for another day. The film really doesn't sound bad, but it really could have been much, much better. The plot turns out to be a hopeless wonder and the 60's beach songs have been strangely influenced by the 80's. Some people will enjoy this film only because of the numerous guest stars from 60's television (which is a very minor, but only redeeming quality this disappointment has). Was Pee-wee Herman's 60's song remix thing really necessary? Rent Elvis instead ... please!
