This Tim Burton film is a pure delight but it's supernatural oddities downsize this potentially great film. A couple living in a happy and traditional country home meet their death when they plummet into a river after driving off a bridge. They return to their old house, but it's not the same. They're ghosts now, you see, and they must spend their time now haunting away the strange people who bought this beautiful house to turn it into an art project gone mad. Being amateurs, they aren't very good at it, so they call Beetlejuice, a professional haunter, to do it for them. The title character played by Michael Keaton doesn't seem to contribute much to this film nor seems to be really beneficial to the plot; he seems to be crudely tacked onto the story-line. Nevertheless, Beetlejuice is still a worthwhile view made memorable by it's enchanting calypso scene.
