Er . . . well . . . I still haven't seen anything by Woody Allen that was bad. It's just that this one isn't as chuckle-inducing as many of his other late-period films. Allen stars as a novelist with writer's block. He also has woman troubles essentially because he transfers his romances into his novels and only thinly disguises them. The plot is rather confusing but enjoyable involving the characters he created (and their real counter figures) and the role they played in their life. Like all other Allen's later films, it contains an impressive array of some of the day's most popular stars including Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Demi Moore, Elisabeth Shue, Kirstie Alley, and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss. It was probably based on Frederico Fellini's great film, 8 ½ (unofficially, of course).
