The Graduate

Dustin Hoffman, in his first starring role, plays a young graduate who spends much of his post-graduate life wondering what he is going to do with the rest of his life. Feeling lowdown and worrying about it, he engages in an affair with middle-aged Anne Bancroft. As months pass, Hoffman realizes that the person he's really in love with is her daughter and does whatever he can to get her, despite her parents' feelings about it. The Graduate was a very influential film on many accounts and is considered a classic. It deservedly earned a place on the top ten on AFI's 100 best movie list. It's what made Dustin Hoffman into a phenomenal star. Watch quickly for Richard Dreyfuss. It should be rated PG-13 rather than PG.
