Sidney Poitier makes history from this film as the first African American to win the Best Actor Academy Award. And what an excellent performance he gave! He plays a wandering freelancer who stumbles upon an obscure and tiny convent in the middle of Arizona. He asks the Mother for water, but she ends up tricking him into doing numerous odd jobs, including constructing a much needed chapel. An excellent comedy that is incredibly enjoyable. It's terrifically done; I recommend it to everybody.
