The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

A rollicking action/adventure picture adapted from the first part of the celebrated novel from J.R.R. Tolkein. Starring Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, he embarks on a journey to rid the world of a magic ring that would bring ultimate power to its evil maker. Overlong? Pooh! I was engaged through the entire thing…it is shot beautifully and frosted with flawless special effects and excellent, mind-blowing action. The fine ensemble cast (including Ian Holm, Sean Astin, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, among others) fit perfectly into their respective roles. A nearly flawless action/adventure film and I can't wait for the sequel. Until then...
