Very entertaining comedy about the Cuban Missile Crisis and how a small Florida town reacts to rumors that a nuclear war could trigger at any moment. John Goodman plays a big time grade B science fiction producer who's coming in town to sneak preview his new and incredibly strange monster flick. Even though Matinee is sometimes sappy, it still remains a fun flick with very good special effects. There are moments of unadulterated humor as well! A good film to rent.
