Mermaids

Cher stars in this unusual comedy/drama as a single mother of two daughters and always seems to be moving from town-to-town; she currently lives in a small town of Massachusetts. Winona Ryder plays the eldest child who disapproves of her mother's uncouth way of conducting her social life around town. It's interesting, it's sometimes funny and it's likable. The plot plays around with clever ideas, but it sometimes doesn't go full force.
