Tom Cruise returns to the mission in this stylish, intriguing but uninspired sequel to the original hit. This time Cruise must save the world from a deadly virus that an evil supervillian created only to make serious cash on the antidote. The plot is much more comprehensible than its predecessor, but it is lacking the class and the punch that made Mission: Impossible such a delight. Director John Woo, who did not direct the original, turned Mission: Impossible into more of an overblown Jackie Chan/James Bond flick (with a lot of violent man-to-man combat that was not present in the original) and called it a sequel. However, on its own feet, it's not a back flick. It is extra-thrilling when it is not dragging and to my merriment, the characters pull off masks left and right so pay attention!
