Sounder

A poor black family of sharecroppers go through very hard times harvesting sugar cane to pay the landlord a ridiculous fee for the farm. When father of the family is sent to prison, the wife and kids can't survive well at all, but they soon learn that they need to be strong through this terrible time until he comes back. "Sounder" refers to the name of the family hound, but it doesn't play a substantial part in the film. The acting by everyone is outstanding most notably by Paul Winfield and young Kevin Hooks. A top-notch children's flick that is a perfect view for the entire family!
