Splendor in the Grass

It starts out a chippy romance but as the movie runs for a while it turns into a complicated story involving tragedy and confusion. Natalie Wood stars as a high school girl who is just nuts about her sweetheart, Warren Beatty. Beatty also loves Wood, but eventually feels they shouldn't see each other any longer. This literally drives Wood nuts and is sent to an institution. It's rather depressing, but very good. Movie debut for Warren Beatty as well as Sandy Dennis.
