The amiable yet somewhat lame Star Trek series took a serious turn in its fourth outing, where Earth is being destroyed by a strange force turning the future world into a living chaos. Kirk and the gang figure that this force is directly related to the earth's absence of humpback whales for several centuries, so they go back in time to the 1980's to obtain one. They find a woman who works at an aquarium who takes care of a set of humpback whales that are scheduled to be released in soon time. Kirk tries to persuade the woman to let him have them. This Star Trek is hailed to be the one of the best Star Trek films ever made, and it probably is! Not like any other Star Trek film; this one's hilarious! Watching the ignorant Star Trek crew fumble around trying to fit in with the 80's is great. Spock even applies the Vulcan Death Grip to a punk rocker! Entertaining and a good movie all around!
