A funny and touching comedy/drama about friends and family living in a small southern town coping with their strange and unique lives. Sheer entertainment, with many hilarious performances and some tear-jerking scenes as well. The cast is full of stars and they all do en excellent job in their roles. Can't help feeling, however, that Sally Field overplayed her role, but Shirley MacLaine's performance is the most enjoyable as the bitter widow.
