Gene Wilder takes a shot at spoofs and half-succeeds. It's an extremely goofy adventure about Rudy Valentine traveling to Hollywood to make it big when his wife (Carol Kane) runs away with Rudolph Valentino. The jokes, lame or not, are quickly shot to the audience who are left to either laugh or sigh. Dom DeLuise does a funny performance as a frustrated producer. People will either find this flick "too stupid" or "crazy enough to be funny." Both sides, however, will agree that "The World's Greatest Lover" is certainly unique.
