The Doom Patrol Review

DC SPECIAL DIGEST

DC Special had a fairly good run in the late sixties/early seventies, being DC Comics' only regular reprint book for quite a few years. The original series had a few new stories as well, including the The Three Musketeers, "Earth Shattering Disasters", "Danger Dinosaurs!" featuring Captain Comet and Tommy Tomorrow, and the most well-remembered tale, "The Untold Origin of the Justice Society." After the original series of cancelled, the name was brought back into use as the co-title with Best of DC when DC started its line of digests.

It was great to see a lot of the stories in the digests, but it was annoying to have the artwork mutilated to fit the format of the digest-sized pages. The digests lasted about three years in total, but never came close to the success of DC's 100-Page Super Spectaculars or 80-Page Giants, I think simply because folks don't like squinting to read a comic book tale.
