The Spirit of the American Doughboy is found only within the continental United States.

The list of locations below represents the results of many years of research by Earl D. Goldsmith. Earl has visited, written, telephoned, and e-mailed various town and city officials all over the country since 1965, uncovering any information concerning the true locations of Viquesney's Spirit of the American Doughboy, as well as correcting errors on previous lists.

First, Find Your State

Scroll down the list of states below to find cities known to have, or to formerly have, one or more of Viquesney's Spirit of the American Doughboy memorials. If your state isn't listed, no Viquesney Doughboy is known to currently or formerly exist there. Click on any city link below to display information about that city's Viquesney Doughboy.

Despite Viquesney's advertising claim of at least one of his Doughboys in every state of the Union, only the 39 states listed below either have, or once had, one or more Spirit of the American Doughboy monuments. It's possible there were other Viquesney Doughboys of differing designs placed elsewhere, but so far only one has been found (Lakemore, OH). Another possible variant Viquesney Doughboy stands at Palatka, FL (along with two Spirit of the American Doughboy statues and one variant version of Viquesney's Spirit of the American Navy).

Note also there were three copyright versions of the sculpture, shown on next page.
