After Larry's 20 year background
is high tech, as a Nortel research scientist/manager and later an executive with a local startup, with a Masters and Ph.D.
in electronic engineering, he has turned to his passion: music. As a professional, he performs classical, musical theater,
jazz and pop. Classically trained in the U.S., he directs the choir at Agudath Israel and his music career includes seven years as youth music director at Temple Israel, lay cantorial work, accompanying students at the Kiwanis Music Festival and vocal/dance recitals since, and even playing keyboards in a local rock band. This year, he produced, composed and
played all instrumentation for the new pop epic Cupid 911, which features outstanding, award-winning singers and virtuoso piano chops.
Over the years, he has worked extensively with Yoriko Tanno Kimmons' vocal studio and accompanies professional singers. This past season he accompanied more than 100 competitors at Kiwanis, working
with students of more than 10 vocal studios, and accompanied at various recitals, productions and gigs. He has produced
hundreds of accompaniment backup pieces on CD. He was the audition accompanist
for the most recent Mirvish production casting call for Mamma Mia. And for something
completely different, he also appeared onstage as the Shiva Cantor in the Orpheus production of Rags in 2003.
Larry is pleased to be working
with so many talented performers and to have the opportunity to make music together.
