Let's Support Ivy C. Cheatham

For Ms. NCCU Alumni 2003!

This year's Homecoming celebration is Saturday, November 1, 2003. The Durham Chapter, of the North Carolina Central University Alumni Association, has officially kicked-off our NCCU Alumni Scholarship Fund campaign. We solicit your support for the Durham Chapter, our Alma Mater and for our contestant, Ms. Ivy C. Cheatham.

Donations are now being received and welcomed.

In 1999, our Durham Chapter contestant, Ms. Shaki Moore, won the Ms. NCCU Alumni crown. In 2001, our Durham Chapter contestant, Ms. Norma D. Petway, also won the crown. We want to repeat those victories again in 2003.

In 1991, Ms. Ivy Christa Cheatham received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a concentration in Public Administration, from NCCU. In 1996, she received her Master of Arts degree in Public Administration from NCCU. In December 2000, after being away from the "Eagle's Nest" for four years, she joined the faculty of North Carolina Central University as an Academic Advisor, in the Student Academic Advising Service for Undergraduates.

Ms. Cheatham's extra-curricular activities include membership in the Oxford-Henderson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, where she serves as chairperson of the Mentor Committee. She is also a member of the Durham Chapter and NCCU National Alumni Association.

A native of Kittrell, North Carolina, Ms. Cheatham currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Ms. Patricia A. Cheatham (Kittrell, NC) and Mr. Norman Alston, Jr. (Fort Washington, MD). The "Eagle" legacy is prominent in her family as Elsie Cheatham Huff - aunt (1970), Alice Cheatham - aunt (1973), Lemuel "Tom" Cheatham - uncle (1977), Harriet Proctor Cheatham - aunt (1977), and Cessaly Cheatham - cousin (2002), are all North Carolina Central University (Eagles) graduates.

Our deadline for the receipt of monies related to the scholarship effort for the Durham Chapter is October 3, 2003. We will use our NCCU Alumni data base file, telephone, U.S. mail and E-mail to contact you for your support, in our effort to raise funds to help sustain our NCCU Alumni Scholarship Fund.
