Signs of a...
N E W B I E S I T E
If you're shooting for a more
professional look to your webpages, these are the following
things you should avoid. I composed this list through what I
have noticed from my daily browsing. These points are in no
particular order.
-
A large Welcome sign, especially those that
either blink or scroll across the top of the page (sometimes
even larger than the title).
-
Large blocks of text stretching from one side of the
window to the other.
-
A cluttered background that obscures the text.
-
Clipart city (every image is copied from a clipart site)!
-
Unusually
large paragraph text.
-
Inconsistant
look to the site (theme/colors of each page differ so
much that they don't look like they belong to the same
site).
-
Background
music (this is debatable, but many newbies will add
music just to show they know how to use embed
tag - I'm serious).
-
Also
scrolling text, added to show they know how to use the marquee
tag.
-
A crammed
look, with images stuck together on the same line
without spacing.
I'm sure
there are many more signs of a newbie site I've missed, but that's all I can think of
for now!
