Samuel French Brantley was the son of James Atkinson and Nancy Woods (Raburn) Brantley. He was born December 4, 1837 in Coffee County , Tennessee . James was the son of Joseph A. Brantley and his wife Judith Atkinson who were seen in Edgefield County , South Carolina in 1812, but were in Tennessee by 1830. The lineage beyond Joseph is not clear, but it appears that he may e closely related to the Chatham County, North Carolina family. Samuel married Sarah Elizabeth King in 1861. He died March 23, 1902 in Bedford County , Tennessee . Seen here are Samuel and grandchildren, children of their son, James Robertson Brantley. L to R Catherine, child of hired hand. George Washington Brantley was born March 9, 1852 in Marion County , Georgia . He was the son of Harris Brantley and Charity Harden. Harris was son of Phillip Jr, of Phillip Sr, of John, of Edward, of Phillip, of Edward Brantly (I). Harris and his brother Jones Brantley, came through Leake County about 1855. George married Mary Susan Thomas (seen here)

Dr Levi G. Brantley 1819-1898 – Levi G. Brantley was born April 11, 1819 in Walton County , Georgia . He was the son of Joshua and Temperance (Radford) Brantley. He married Martha Sturdivant (seen here) on January 19, 1841 . Four of their eight children became Doctors of Medicine. (See Georgia and Georgians)

Lucy Brantley McCollugh 1846 - Lucy Brantley was the daughter of Levi G. Brantley. She was born ca 1846 in Walton County , Georgia . She became the first woman Doctor of medicine in Georgia , according to one report. She married Pat McCollugh (shown here)

Eugene Hamilton Brantley 1853 – 1938 - Eugene Hamilton Brantley was born June 4, 1853 in Bibb County , Georgia . He was the son of John W. Brantley and his wife, Rebecca. John was the son of Joseph and Dolly (Moreland) Brantley. Joseph was the son of Benjamin Brantley. Benjamin is likely the brother of Amos and Malachi Brantley formerly of Edgecombe County , N.C. Eugene ’s mother, Rebecca died when he was four years old and his father died when he was eight. He was adopted by relatives, but ran away from home at a very young age. He was in Hunt County , Texas by 1880 and Kaufman County , by 1900. He died in Rotan, Texas on February 7, 1938 .

Isaac Monroe Brantley (CSA) 1841-1929 – Isaac Monroe Brantley was born May 4, 1841 in Walton County , Georgia . He was the son of Henry T. and Sarah (Hendrick) Brantley. Henry was the so of Joshua and temperance (Radford) Brantley. Henry and his brothers John M. and Levi G. all took their families and went to Baker County , Alabama about 1870. Isaac married Letty Braswell upon return from the Civil War in 1865. He died in Chilton County , Alabama on September 1, 1929 .

Thomas Jefferson Brantley Home, Near Wrightsville , Georgia - This house was built about 1870. the wing to the right was the kitchen. Nine children were reared here. See family photo.

William Brantley Home, Chatham County , North Carolina . This home was built about 1770 and was the birth place of the Rev. William Theophilus Brantley, noted theologian. William Sr was the son of John and Hannah Brantley. The home was still standing in the 1960s.

Belonie F Brantley 1878-1925 – Belonie was the daughter of William Washington Brantley. She was born March 28, 1878 in Johnson County , Georgia . She married Junious Franklin Martin. She died February 28, 1925 in Johnson County .

George Washington Brantley 1837 – 1914 - Son of James and Elizabeth (Kirven) Brantley was born ca 1837 in Montgomery County , AL. James was the son of Jesse Brantley, apparent son of Thomas Brantley who died in Northampton County , N.C. in 1777. George died in Pike county, Alabama on August 25, 1914 .

Rev WilliamTheophilus Brantley Jr – Son of Wm T Brantley Sr and wife Anna (McDonald) Martin. He followed his father in the ministry. He married Mary Ann Turpin and after her death, Martha Walker Marston He died in Baltimore , Maryland on March 6, 1882 .

Benjamin Crawford Brantley (CSA) 1844-1936 Benjamin Crawford Brantley was born July 31, 1844 in Meriwether County, Georgia. He was the son of Simeon Brantley formerly of Chatham County, NC. Simeon was the son of William, of John, of Edward, of Phillip, of Edward Brantly I. Benjamin fought for the Confederacy and lost his left arm due to a battle would. He married Mary Forrest Ector in 1874. They issued ten children. Child here is unknown.

Calvin Brantley – Born ca 1839 in Washington Co, GA. He, setting, was the son John F Brantley by ?? Morris. John was son of James, of Joseph, of Benjamin, of John & Hannah Brantley of Chatham Co, NC . Calvin married Adaline Bell in 1862. By 1870 he has married Sarah Renfroe (to his left) and is in Levy Co FL. He died in FL about 1890.

Mary, Hudson and Hugh Brantley – Children of James Edward and Annie Lee Brantley of Johnson County , Georgia . James was the son of Wm Thomas, of John F, of James. of Joseph, of Benjamin, of John and Hannah Brantley.

Dr Edmund Taylor Brantley 1848-1917 Son of Lewis A. (of Jesse) and Isabell (Duke) Brantley. He came as an infant to Drew Co. AR from Meriweather Co. GA about 1849. He married Sarah J Langston. According to family history he was killed by step sons of his second wife (name unk) on March 9, 1917 . Shown here with his son Edmund f and his grandchildren. Charles Gideon Thaxton Born January 23, 1829 in Georgia . Was the son of Mary Mathis and Charles C Thaxton. Mary was the daughter of Gideon Mathis and Hannah Brantley. Hannah was daughter of Malachi Brantley of Hancock County, Georgia.

Wm Buchannan Brantley - (1856-1923) Born in Conecuh County, Alabama July 8, 1856. He was the son of James Edward and Sarah (Jernigan) Brantley. James was the son of Francis and Sarah Ann (Travis) Brantley. Francis was the son of John Brantley (b. ca 1788) who came to Alabama from South Carolina about 1820. Shown here is William B. and wife, Anne Dixon. William died September 8, 1921.

James Madison Brantley , Jr. 1876-1913 James Madison Brantley, Jr. was born in Tennessee in 1876. He was the son of James Madison Brantley, Sr. and Martha J. Oliver. James Sr. was the son of Rubin W. Brantley, son of Joshua and Temperance (Radford) Brantley. His grandfather, Reubin, went to Cherokee County, Al about 1856. Rubin's widow and children are seen in Bedford County, TN by 1870. James married Lula Daniel about 1896. He died in Moore County, TN in 1913 and is buried in Bedford County. s

John David Brantley (1839-1907) He was born April 24, 1839 in Kemper County, MS. His mother was Nancy Jane McFarland. His father is believed to be Thomas Brantley. This Thomas may have been married to two women at the same time. Thomas was the son of Jesse Brantley, of Thomas (died 1777 in Northampton County, NC and great grandson of Clay Brantley, of John, of Edward BrantlyI. His grandmother MacFarland returned from Texas to get Nancy Jane and baby John around 1840. He married Susan Mary Woods and lived in DeWitt County, Texas for many years. They issued five children. John David died October 13, 1907 in Mason County, TX.

Thomas Burgess Brantley CSA (1829 – 1867) Born 1829 in Halifax County, NC. He was the son of Etheldred and Temperance (DeLoach) Brantley. Etheldred was the son of James, of Etheldred of of Thomas Brantley, who died in 1777 in Northampton County, NC. Thomas was a grandson of Clay Brantley, of John of Edward I. Thomas married Mary Lloyd who died. He went to Missouri and later to Utah where he married Henrietta Camp. Thomas, having been injured in the Civil War, took sick while mining salt from the Great Salt Lake and died in 1867. They had one son Thomas R. Brantley who was shot and killed by another cowboy in 1884.

Greenberry Brantley 1833-1910 (1833-1910) Born August 26, 1833 in Livingston County, KY. He was a grandson of Kentucky James Brantley. On Sept 30, 1857, he married his cousin, Matilda Brantley, daughter of Nathaniel Brantley, also of Kentucky James. Greenberry died on April 10, 1910 in Crettenden County, KY By then a large number of Brantley persons of Kentucky James resided in western Kentucky and Illino.

Elisha Brantley (1837-1912) Elisha A. Brantley was born December 18, 1837 in Halifax County, NC. He was the son of Robert and Rebecca (Nichols) Brantley. Robert and Rebecca brought their family to Campbell County, TN about 1845, but are seen in Union County after its split from Campbell. Elisha married Barbara Ann Wilson (seen here) on October 11, 1860. Elisha died in Union County on March 19, 1912.

Simeon Brantley Simeon Brantley was born May 18, 1804 in Chatham County, No Carolina. He was the son of William and Mary (Tomlinson) Brantley. William was the son of John and Hannah Brantley, of John, of Edward, of Phillip of Edward !. He moved to Georgia around 1830. He married Sarah Ann Daniel (shown here) in Burke Co, Georgia on May 18, 1831. By 1840, they were in Meriweather County, GA where he died Oct 30, 1883. Simeon wrote a series of letters during the mid 1800s which have been preserved by the association.

Thomas Brantley Born Feb 20 1900 in Washington Co, GA. He was the son of James E. and Annie Lee Brantley, James was the son of Wm Tho, of John F, of James, of Joseph, of Benjamin, of John & Hannah Brantley of Chatham Co, NC Thomas as he was called married Helen Dawson. He died in 1971.

John Russell Brantley (CSA) Son of Thomas Russell of Joshua. Born in Georgia, he went as a child with father to Pototoc Co., MS about 1845 and to Faulkner Co. AR about 1879.

Wm Benjamin Brantley (CSA) (1842-1908) William Benjamin Brantley was born February 1842 in Harris County, GA. He was the son of Harris Brantley and Charity Harden. He was about 12 years old when he went to Mississippi with his family. He served as a Confederate soldier and lost his eye in battle. Ben married Martha (Mattie) Williams on December 1, 1866. They were in Neshoba County, Missippi in 1870, in McLennan County, Texas in 1880. By 1888 they were back in Leake County, MS. They later moved to Clovis, New Mexico where Benjamin died on February 6, 1908. Thirteen children came from the union of Ben and Mattie. Ben was a Baptist minister for much of his adult life.

Richard Harris Brantley born April 8 1875 in Mississippi . He was the son of Jones Patrick Brantley and wife Arabelle Manry. Jones was the son of Harris, of Phillip, of Phillip Sr, of John & Hannah of Chatham County, North Carolina.

Archibald P Brantley – Was born Nov 3, 1862 in Pierce County, GA. He was the son Benjamin Daniel Brantley, of Benjamin Sr, of Joseph Brantley of No Carolina and GA. He like his father and brothers, distinguished himself in community service. He married Harriotte Camp.

Benjamin Daniel Brantley– born Jan 10, 1832 in Laurens Co, GA. He was the son of Elizabeth (Daniel) Brantley. Benjamin Sr was the son of Joseph Brantley, reportedly of the Chathan Co, No. Carolina family. He marrid Janet Mcrae in 1856. He founded the Brantley Company in Southeast Ga. Brantley County, Georgia was named after him.

John T Brantley – Was born Dec 17, 1867 in Pierce County, GA. He was the son Benjamin Daniel Brantley, of Benjamin Sr, of Joseph Brantley of No Carolina and GA. He like his father and brothers, distinguished himself in community service. He married Harriotte Camp.

William G Brantley – Born Sep 18, 1860 in Pierce County, Ga. He was the son Benjamin Daniel Brantley, of Benjamin Sr, of Joseph Brantley of No Carolina and GA. He like his father and brothers, distinguished himself in community service. He married Kessie Kate Westbrook .

William Luther Brantley 1868-1956 Son of William G. Brantley and Elizabeth Kittrell.. He was born in 1868 in Washington Co, GA. He married Amelia Wells (Seen here) and Lillie Waters. He died in 1956 in Screven Co GA.

Francis Sidney Kay Brantley Family (Feb 14, 1859-May 25, 1949) Kay was the son of Vincent and Lucretia (Grill) Brantley. Vincent was the son of Malachi Brantley and wife Nancy Marvel. Malachi was the son of Kentucky James Brantley. Kay married Mary America Oglesby. The family moved to Illinois soon after 1900. Sidney died in Harrisburg, IL. Edgar Clayton Brantley, born Oct 27, 1902 in Johnson CO, GA. He was son of James Edward and Annie Lee Brantley. He married Mable Turner. He was struck and killed by a car in front of his brother-in-laws home on Dec 8, 1934. His daughter would died later at the same spot. (See Annie Lee Brantley)

Annie Lee Brantley She was born about 1932 and was the daughter of Edgar Brantley. She died in Dooly Co, GA on Feb 13 1938 when struck by a car. This is the same spot her father was killed a few years earlier.

William Gordon Brantley He was born Apr 18, 1824 in Washington Co, GA. He was the son of Aaron Brantley and Dicey Riddle. He married Elizabeth Kittrell. He died Aug 18, 1904
