Introduction

Mathematics developed out of the need and curiosity of humans. Most of us do not know the truth behind the topic we were taught. For example Pythagoras' Theorem which was first developed by  the Egyptians, yet Mr. Pythagoras capitalized on it and called it his theorem. For this reason, I strongly believe that the history of mathematics should be incorporated in our mathematics classes to enlighten students of these truths. They will then see the relevance of the subject and automatically show more interest in it. With this in mind I have decided to create my first website on "The History of Algebra".

One of the main aims of this web site is to help students understand some of the basic concepts in algebra. Teachers may consult this site for assisting with their lesson plans, for introduction to their lessons or just to get ideas as to how they can relay information concerning algebra to their students. This site contains practice questions along with their solutions and carries an e-mail address to accommodate users' questions and comments concerning the topic.
