Dear Fausta,
Stacie and I have another idea that I ran by Claire; let's all get together and send a letter to John F. Kennedy, Jr. at "George" Magazine. Can't you see it? Rickman as Oliver Cromwell or Nicoli Machiavelli. Both men were revolutionaries, powerful speakers and the women loved them.Anyway, other lesser-lights have graced the cover, so why not fight to have Alan increase the circulation and make our day? Dear Fausta,
I sent a note to Creative Talent Agency and they forwarded it to ICM.....It had two sentences...and I simply asked them if they knew of Mr. Rickman's charitable endeavors and what would he like to have donations made to. Melanie Parker wrote and said that Mr. Rickman was to be abroad for about three months and asked that she reply to my letter in his behalf.
"Although Mr. Rickman does have many charity commitments he asked that if you would like to make a donation it would be most appreciated at the following theatre: Attn: Helen Salmon

Could this possibly be posted on your website.....as a thank you to him for the many hundreds of hours of enjoyment he has brought to all of us.

It is a theater and group effort designed to support and encourage newplaywrites and fledgling directors in their endeavors.....they even have a workshop which they run once a year and bring in students of theater from all over the world, they have about 15 people come in and learn the craft.....with experts from around London as their teachers....(this sounds wonderful, and just something Alan would find endearing) They are a UK registered charity #231242 so those in the UK can take a tax write-off.....and they also have connections to a group in California which they exchange students and teachers with.

Questions on The Winter Guest

I saw "The Winter Guest" and loved it. We all have slightly strained relationships with our aging parents; you know, the child becomes a parent to the parent at some point in our lives. Ms. Law reminded me so much of my own grandmother, I simply fell in love with her. Two questions:
1. If that was such a bitter cold day on the seacoast, why was everybody walking around without warm hats and gloves? I assume it would interfere with the actor's expressions, so for artistic purposes they walked about bareheaded. Some of those scenes made me shiver just watching.
2. And -- whatever happened to those two sweet kittens in the film? Were they homeless to begin with and turned back out onto the street, or did someone take care to find them warm loving homes after filming? Their fate worries me.

Dear Concerned,
1. Many Canadian fans commented on this. Having lived in Ithaca, New York, where it gets cold enough that Lake Cayuga freezes over, it was clear to me that, had it been really cold, the actors' hands would have stuck to any metal surface they touched and their noses would have fallen off their faces. This would have brought production to a halt and we would have waited even longer to see the film. so maybe it was a good thing they all pretended to be cold.
2. I assume the kittens found good homes after the filming, after all, they probably became local celebrities.
