Past

Jessie grew up in a poor family. She rarely got anything nice, material-wise. In "Princess vs. Princess", she explains how she was dissapointed every year when it came time for the Princess Festival (Girl's Day), because she was the only person that didn't have a set of Princess dolls. In "The Purr-fect hero", as James is descirbing his luxurious childhood filled with ice cream sandwiches, Jessie gets deepressed, saying that she never had any of that stuff. Anyway, after Jessie's traumatic childhood, she met James. This was around the time that she enrolled in Pokemon Technical School, a school for learning all there is to know about Pokemon. The day before the entry exams, Jessie and James "frolicked all night, for their future seemed bright..." Buuuut, sadly, they ended up getting the lowest scores in the history of the school. ( That's okay, at least they're the top of the bottom! )

After flunking out, she and James joined a bicycle gang in Sunnytown. Jessie was one of the most notorious members of the gang; she was even called "Big Jess". Jessie had some quite, er, original riding habits, too. She would ride around on her bicycle and swing a long chain around, wherever she'd go! I don't have any idea why...maybe she was trying to kill birds? Or maybe it's something that Japanese people do? I don't know. Anyway, this little habit of hers earned her the name "Chainer Jess". Jessie and James, for some reason, quit the gang and joined up with Team Rocket some time later.

Personality

Jessie is most definitely the dominant one of the trio. I'd even go as far to say that she's the leader; she's definitely not a follower, by any means. She will use any type of violence to get her way...

Her feet...

Paper fans...

Mallets...

Even guns...^gulp^

Jessie tends to be very, very impatient most of the time, and she seems to take her job a bit more seriously than James or Meowth. I'd hate to see what would happen to Meowth and James if Jessie weren't there to keep them in-line. Jessie loses her temper fairly easily, especially when somebody insults her beauty ^.^

Just like James, Jessie is usually pretty self-centered ("If *I* let go, we're all done for! If you let go, at least *I'll* survive!"). Most of Jessie's life seems to center around her face, which she calls her "perfection". Hehe. If anyone harms it in any way, she reacts by completely freaking out ("My beautiful face! Perfection...has been ruined!" ).

There's always a lighter side, though. Although Jessie may be alot more selfish than James, I believe that she, too, is a truly nice person. Her good side is hard to see, but sometimes, it shines through...my theory is that Jessie was deprived of something very important to her in her childhood (besides her "A-cha" doll...) and she takes it out on others. I think that she's really sensitive and insecure, and she's just searching for respect and acceptance...And, sadly, sometimes the only way she can get it is by harming others...maybe the reason that she tries so hard at her job is so that she *will* earn the respect she wants. Jessie also seems to be alot more vengeful than James. If somebody insults her looks or her intelligence, she's always looking for ways to get revenge, whereas James seems to blow it off ( after quite a little bit, but he still blows it off... ). So Jessie's pride seems to be hurt pretty easily. As full of herself as she seems to be most of the time, maybe she really is insecure.

And Jessie really *is* a good Pokemon trainer. In "Princess vs. Princess", she put up a *very* good fight (until she got up to Misty...that just shows that the "heros" of the story have a bad case of dumb luck.) She definitely cares about her Pokemon. Yes, she insults Ekans/Arbok, but, I don't know...Jessie just doesn't seem to *know* how to be nice. And like I said, she's just impatient. But in the picture above, you can see that, when Jessie thinks that she'd lost Ekans, she is extremely happy to be reunited with it. In "Lights, Camera, Quack-tion", Arbok and Weezing audition for a role in a movie...and get rejected. Jessie does her best to cheer Arbok up. And although Jessie has Lickitung, who is obviously a much better fighter than Arbok, it seems that, even though it's a MUCH better fighter than Arbok, Jessie seems pretty partial to her snake-pokemon...she choses it *alot* more often.

In "Mewtwo Strikes Back", Jessie, James, and Meowth are exploring a big genetics lab, when Meowth is dragged into a cloning machine. Meowth falls into the machine. James leaps in after him, grabbing him by the feet, while Jessie grabs James and pulls them both out. Would they try to save him if they didn't care? In "Go West, Young Meowth", Jessie and James show their concern and friendship to Meowth by saving him and trying to comfort him...Jessie promises Meowth that they would never let anyone hurt "their little buddy". When Meowzy, Meowth's love interest, calls him a "Walkin', talkin' freak Meowth", Jessie and James respond..."Maybe so...but he's OUR freak!" See? They both know to show Meowth a little affection *sometimes*.
