Is Voyager Going Home??

"There are no plans to bring Voyager home now," Braga says. "The season finale will not do that. It's the first time we've said that. I don't think that's a secret at this point. Maybe in the first episode of next season." Braga admits though that the last episode of this season: "Does have to do with Earth, and humans. There will be some changes next season, but no casting changes." Seeing Deep Space Nine come to an end has also been an emotional experience for the producer: "I feel a little melancholy," he says. "Voyager will be the only show on the air. I'm not sure quite what to say because I didn't have all that much involvement. I have mixed feelings. It's exciting for Voyager, but at the same time any time a show goes off the air, it's not a great thing for the franchise. Deep Space Nine had a great run, and the final episode's amazing and very moving."

Much like Worf came over from Next Generation to aid Deep Space Nine midway through its run, now that DS9 is ending does this mean we might be seeing any of those characters transporting to the Voyager world? "It's possible," hints Braga. "We've talked about it."

This is what Executive Producer Brannon Braga said on November 16 in response to the question Will the Voyager crew ever get home for real?: "I have no idea. Every year we discuss the possibility and we will do it when we have the right storyline or storylines. We don't want to get the crew home magically in an episode. It would have to be done in a grand, epic fashion. It's a very, very big decision to make and we're very far away to doing it this season. This is a long-winded way of saying 'I have no idea.'"

Executive Producer Rick Berman about Voyager's return to Earth: "If and when Voyager gets home is going to be a surprise. Whether it's in the fifth season or the sixth season or the seventh season is something that obviously Brannon Braga and I have discussed and we have discussed with the studio. There is no definitive answer to that. But, I must say, if there were a definitive answer to that, I don't think I would tell you. So we'll leave it at that."[ Courtesy of Cinescape OnLine. ]

While denying the rumours of a possible merger of UPN with NBC or CBS, UPN entertainment president Tom Nunan commented on the possibility that "the long-lost crew of Star Trek: Voyager may find its way home in the upcoming season": "We'd love to get them back in touch with the Federation and back out on missions. It would give the show literally more direction," said Nunan, cautioning that nothing was set in stone.
