Steve Kmetko [in studio]: In Titanic, Rose discreetly bears her bosom for Jack, the artist played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Well, in her new movie, Holy Smoke, Kate throws discretion - and all her clothes - to the wind. At the Venice Film Festival, she looked back and forth on her career. [Clip of Titanic] Even though she's made movies before, and since, Kate Winslet will always be linked to Titanic, the blockbuster of dreams. But, her newest movie, Holy Smoke [clip of HS] promises to make another lasting impression. It's the story of a woman who's joined a cult. Harvey Keitel plays the man hired by her family to deprogram her. Instead, a sexual tension develops. Eventually, the character Kate plays winds up psychologically abused - and stark naked. It gives a whole new meaning to the film's title - Holy Smoke!!

Kate: [being interviewed by Steve in Venice] I know. Aren't I a bad girl? Yes, that's right, and I just approach those scenes in the way that I always do. You know, they're hard scenes to do.

Steve [voice over]: Kate went to the official party after the Venice screening of her movie with Keitel and her director Jane Campion...

...It was her husband, however, with whom Kate was looking forward to enjoying the romantic Italian destination. [In Venice] I saw you giving someone a hug over there. I assume that's your new husband?

Kate: Could that have been my husband? [She can't help but grin at the mention of Jim.]

Steve: How long have you been married now?

Kate: Just coming up to ten months.

Steve: Ten months.

Kate: [still smiling] Yeah.

Steve: Have you had a chance to enjoy the city at all together?

Kate: No, not really.

Steve: And walking up for the opening of the film last night…

…How does that compare to going up the steps in Cannes or going down the carpet at the Oscars?

Kate: Well, it's a different vibe, and I think that's because it's a different country. And it was a different occasion, you know, the opening of this film. I just found it really exciting.

Steve: And Kate Winslet tells me that the first time she came to the Venice Film Festival was as a teenager, and [chuckling] she had to borrow a suitcase.

Kate: And it was half full with a few items of clothing. And I really didn't think about the fact that I needed to wear certain things at certain times. It just didn't even cross my mind. And now, of course, it's a totally different thing. You have to plan all that stuff, and think about that stuff because people are expecting you to sort of look a certain way.

[The segment ended with a scene of photographers shouting, "Kate, Kate!" She then stepped up to the stage for pictures, rolling her eyes and laughing.]

Steve: [in studio with female co-host Jules Asner] Yeah, a few paparazzi there. She said the really hard thing that she didn't consider about doing that nude scene - it was shot in Australia and it was the dead of winter. So, it was really chilly.

Jules: She seems lovely.

Steve: She is.
