Oasis Sets New Order 27/10/99
OASIS are on the point of recrioting a new bassist. David Potts, formerly the guitarist in Monaco, the band formed by New Order's Peter Hook who were recently dropped from their contract with London records, has emerged as a serious contender to replace founder member Paul McGuigan.
Together with ex-Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem, who replaces Bonehead, the new Oasis line-up is almost in place and ready to begin rehearsals.
Sources close to the band say that if the sessions go well the line-up will be confirmed as the band that will tour Oasis' fourth LP, due for release on February 22 next year.
Gem has been tipped for some time as the replacement for Bonehead, who left the band earlier this year following the completion of his parts for the new LP, provisionally titled 'Where Did It All Go Wrong?'.
Gem joined Noel and Liam Gallagher last Thursday (October 21) at the launch party for the Jam tribute album 'Fire And Skill' at The Gallery in Hackney, London.
Noel confirmed that a new line-up was rehearsing on the Monday, and that the new bassist was a fan of Manchester City, though he remained coy about revealing his name.
However, sources close to the band said that David Potts was the man in question. Creation confirmed that he was a contender for the job.
At the party, NME also spoke to Gem, who said things were going "very well". When asked if he could confirm that he had secured the Oasis job, he said: "Easy, easy, we'll see, we'll see. You know, but yeah, I'm minding my Ps and Qs."
Creation Records later confirmed that Gem has been appointed guitarist. 'Pottsy' meanwhile will join the band if rehearsals go well.

No Drugs? Not Big?? 27/10/99
Last time the lads tried it over in the States it proved difficult with arguments within the band, but Liam says this time it will be different because they've all changed and they’ve got a new approach now: "We’re a different band now, you know what I mean? We’ve given up drugs. We’ve been wrote about - ****ing smackheads, drugheads, all a lot of ****ing my nonsense and everyone else’s nonsense come in between and that’s been wrote about", he told Radio 1.
Liam went on to say: "We’re gonna get back down to business, we’re gonna write songs, we’re gonna perform them live proper, we’re not gonna cancel tours, we’re gonna rock, man!", he promises. "The plan is, depending on whether people still like us or not, ‘coz we’ve been away for two years, I wanna do small venues but I also wanna sell big ones. If everything’s alright and the kids still like us then we’re gonna fill out big shows", he says. "Our first one I wanna do like a little tour around London, of little, small gigs, two thousand, so we can get back in there, bring the new people in the band in and away we go".
So how confident is Noel that Oasis can retain their status as one of the most popular and successful guitar bands in the country?: "I’m not confident, to be honest with ya. I mean, we’ll just put the record out and see how it goes", he told Radio 1. "I don’t think we’ll sell as many as the last one because the last one done like 780,000 in England in the first week, so I can’t see that ever happening again", he says. "It’s a new record and it’s two years since we last done anything and there’s people who have grown up now buying records who’ve maybe not been into the band before but, y’know, you just give it your best shot". And how’s Noel feeling about his impending fatherhood: "Petrified! Everyone says it’s really, really, really good fun, but we’ll see".

Here is Gem: 25/10/99
"[Gem is] somebody they knew anyway," Cotton said.
The Gallaghers have not decided on a new bassist, according to Cotton, but they expect to have one in time for the Dec. 3 show.
Noel Gallagher, who writes virtually all the band's music and lyrics, said during an Aug. 25 press conference in London that the band's music and focus would remain the same, despite the personnel shake-up.
"I suppose if we hadn't recorded another record, we would have thought, 'Well ... is it the right thing to carry on?' But we've done the record [and] we've got to go out and tour it. We've got to get on with it, really."
Liam Gallagher said at the time that the band was looking for new members with "nice taste in shoes and a decent haircut."

Album Stuff+++ – 24/10/99
One newsgroup member claims the ten-track album contains the songs;
Getting Free, I Really Gotta Know, Little James, Only My Pride, Living In A
Shadow, Seeing Is Believing, Where Did It All Go Wrong? Other songs slated to
appear as b-sides to Go Let It Out include Flying High, So She Wakes Up, Coming
Through and a Goldie remix of Go Let It Out, though Goldies management deny it's
existence.
One fan who claims to have heard the new tracks describes Where Did It All Go
Wrong? as, "Quite a slow rock song, sort of romantic". He continued: "In a way
similar to Don't Look Back In Anger, quite anthemic." Of Getting Free he said:
"got synthetic drums, electronic effects, a tubthumper". Liam's Little James is said
to be a "psychedelic ballad". The site claims the lyrics to Go Let It Out, which is
stated for release on January 10 2000, go:
"Seeing the sunshine/Feeling one more time/Letting in the light of day/
Sorry for what we done/Sorry for being so wrong/Now I know it's gonna be OK".
Oasis' spokesperson said that the info was "erroneous" , but admitted some of the
purported track titles could be right and was unable to confirm that the lyrics
were that of the new Oasis single. .....taken from the site SAWM.....

Mohammed Ali Gallagher! 24/10/99
Little Lennon Gallagher is just a new born child. But that doesn´t stop his father
Liam Gallagher to have high plans for the child.
40 days after the birth the father announces that he wants his son to be a world
champion as a....heavy weight boxer!
"He´s got a really good right hand, which he has already learned to use", says Liam
to the english paper Daily Star.
Though Lennon was born six weeks to early and is a bit weak Liam is convienced
that he will come up to the right weight. It´s just a matter of time.
"I don´t understand all the medical talk, but I can see that he´s getting stronger
for every day that goes by." .....taken from the Swedish newspaper Expressen....

Come Back In The City Of Brotherly Love? 22/10/99
OASIS announced the first of their US radio dates yesterday, according to a US scource. They will play the Philadelphia alternative station Y100's Christmas festival on December 3. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster on October 30, according to a release sent out by the station.
Beck, The Foo Fighters and Moby are also on the bill at First Union Center in South Philadelphia. Proceeds from the 1999 Y100 FEASTival will benefit local charity the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank. More on this when we get it.
Meanwhile Noel and Liam Gallagher were out socialising with new member ex-Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem in London last night. Gem is the replacement for Bonehead, who quit Oasis following the completion of his guitar parts for the band’s fourth album earlier this year.
The trio were at the launch party for the new Jam tribute album 'Fire And Skill' last night (October 21), which included a live performance from the Bootleg Beatles.
Rumours circulated London all day that the Gallaghers would get on stage to perform new material at the event, or join the Bootleg Beatles for an encore of 'Hey Jude'. Both however proved to be unfounded. Other guests at the party included Nicole Appleton from All Saints, Donna Air and Nutz and Rowetta from the Happy Mondays.

Liam speaks! 21/10/99
Here is a interview with Liam made by Q- magazine. I write only what Liam said in
the interview and not all the other stuff Q wrote.
About Guigsy: We haven’t seen him at all since France. We’d been ringing him
because we have to go to New York to do the sleeve. There was no reply and he
hadn´t been down to the mix, so we thought something was going on.
About them leaving cos they didn’t like the new Oasis sound: They seemed happy
playing it. We all had a good time in France. It’s still fuckin´ rhythm, bass, drums
(sudden wicked smile) and my sweet little self. But maybe they’re not into it any
more. I don’t want to say it’s down to the money, that they’ve got enough and they
want to chill out. Because I can’t see that happening.
About them leaving cos of "bad blood": I dunno any other reason why it’s
happened. If I did I’d fuckin´ tell you because I want to get all this cleared away
so we can get on.
About them being missed: Nothing’s going to be lost. Whoever the replacements
are, I’m on fire and Noel’s on fire so you’ll be getting lots of Manc lip from us.
Again about Guigsy and Bonehead: A lot of it may have been lack of communication.
I just don’t think Guigs and Bonehead are that good at it, which is a bit of a
problem, but it’s not my problem, you know what I mean? I’m not a social worker.
I haven’t got a problem. When I’ve got a problem they fuckin´ know about it. And
if Noel’s got a problem, they know about it. But we’ve got no problem, they’re the
ones with the problem. Things change. I don´t think I will be seeing much of them
now. And vice versa. I’m sure they don’t want me knocking on their door.
We weren’t that close. (...playing together for over 8 years and weren’t close...?)
About the future: Maybe some people will say, It’s a bit quick. Fuck it. We’ve not
been sitting on our arses thinking, Woo, this is a bummer. We’ve got to work at it
and that’s what I’m ready for. We’re not daft, we’ll pick people we know or a
friend of a friend, it won’t be two strangers. We’ll have them by the new year
certainly. And if we haven’t...we’re in the fucking´ shit! ..taken from Q- magazine..
Thanks to Maren for borrowing the magazine!!

No House For Peggy 14/10/99

The Gallagher brothers were at the final stage in buying a house for their beloved mother, but she stopped them just an hour before the deal went down. She has lived in Burnage for over 30 years, and didn’t want to move to a Manchester Mansion.

Oasis: The Hits And The Shits 13/10/99

Noel Gallagher has confirmed that the next Oasis album will have ten tracks, including 'Little James', the first song that Liam has written for the band. Speaking to Radio 1 this week, he said: "It hasn't got a title. Its gonna be out in February next year. All I can tell you is that its got ten tracks and Liams first attempt at writing a songs on it, which is really good. There's two shit ones on it, which I wrote, and the other seven are mega!" That's a turnaround on Phil Spector's famous description of albums as being "two hit singles and eight pieces of shit". This follows his revelations in The Sun yesterday that he regards 'Be Here Now' as a failure because the band were all "out of it" when it was recorded. Noel has always derided the album, claiming on an interview with Steve Lamacq two years ago that he was disappointed with the way that it turned out despite universally positive reviews at the time. Another musician has turned down a job offer from the band. Andy Reid from Manchester band Plastic Gun Alliance was approached by the Oasis camp to replace Guigsy on bass. Reid finally decided to stay with his own band. Meanwhile, Gem from Heavy Stereo is heavily tipped to have taken over the guitar role in the band with an announcement expected soon about a replacement bass player. - nme.com

Nanny No2 For Lennon 13/10/99

Liam Gallagher's son Lennon gets to know his new nanny - the second in his five-week-long life. Oasis star Liam and actress wife Patsy Kensit had to hurriedly find a replacement after nanny No1 quit only two weeks into the job. The blonde newcomer already seemed at ease with Lennon as she secured him in a sling for a stroll near the family's North London home. She'll have her hands full, though - she also has to look after Patsy's seven-year-old son James from her previous marriage to rock musician Jim Kerr. Not to mention Liam, who has been known to throw the odd childish wobbly. - mirror.co.uk

Noel Talks More About The Bad Session 12/10/99

He’s revealed that recording ‘Be Here Now’ through a drug induced haze meant it wasn’t as good as it could have been.

He says it was a ‘lazy album’ that was never going to be as good as the one before:

"It was a weird time for us because anything that we’d done wouldn’t have lived up to the album before it, anyway. You’ve gotta go through them albums and I was pretty much strung out on drugs all the time, anyway", he revealed. "It was recorded in a pretty bad atmosphere and I wasn’t really concentrating on what I was doing and I think that’s sort of come through in the songs. It was sort of a lazy album, but, y’know, we’re over that now, so we’ve done it, it’s out of the way and it’s onwards and upwards from here on in".

Noel’s also been talking about the new album to Radio 1: "It hasn’t got a title. It’s gonna be out in February next year", he revealed. "All I can tell you is that it’s got ten tracks and Liam’s first attempt at writing a song’s on it, which is really good. There’s two sh*t ones on it, which I wrote, and the other seven are mega!"

Noel promises: It's onwards & upwards 12/10/99

Noel Gallagher has explained that Oasis' poorly received third album Be Here Now was recorded "in a pretty bad atmosphere" and that he was "strung out on drugs all the time anyway." But now he says, "we're over all that. It's all out of the way and it's onwards and upwards from here on in."

In an interview with today's Sun newspaper, the Oasis songwriter said that he's been spending his time rehearsing and "looking after the wife", Meg Mathews, who is expecting the couple's first child. The pair are currently making plans to leave their legendary London house, Supernova Heights, and move to the country permanently to bring up their child. Noel also said Noel / Meg Junior would not be having godparents, as he and Meg don't believe in the church.

And regarding the burning question of the moment - who will replace Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan on bass - Noel hinted at problems finding the right person. "Nobody wants to play bass. Everybody wants to be Jimi Hendrix, nobody wants to be Bill Wyman."

Gallaghers give TOTP interview !! 12/10/99

The time - a Wednesday afternoon in October. The place - Dome II nightclub in Birmingham. The event, a collaboration between two of the feistiest guitar slinging bands in popdom, paying tribute to the man they feel is their mentor, Paul Weller. The first is the mighty Ocean Colour Scene, but the second, and most exciting are Oasis!

After all the rumours, counter-rumours, scurrilous gossip and lies, it's good to see Oasis, currently comprising Noel and Liam Gallagher and drummer Alan White, out and about. They came up to TOTP to film an all-star rendition of Liam's version of the Jam classic Carnation with Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock and Damon Minchella, and they brought the house down. We got talking to Steve and Liam, and TOTP plus had a word with Noel, just to get a clear picture of how this super group came about.

TOTP: Liam, how did Noel become involved in all this?

Liam: "Because I paid him! He'd do anything for money, that one...weddings, birthdays..."

TOTP: How much did you pay him?

Liam: "I can't tell you that, this is a children's programme! I can't go into any details!" (wanders off)

Thank you Liam. Steve?

Steve: "I think he just wanted to come. Which is nice. It's nice to see them all. I'm pleased, because the fact that [TOTP] is in Birmingham is a freak-out to us lot. All of a sudden it's on the road and now, as we do Carnation, which is a Jam song, I'm going to play Paul Weller's Rickenbacker (v. expensive mod guitars as used by Paul in the Jam) that he gave me for my thirtieth birthday. His last remaining Jam Rickenbacker. He gave Noel the other one."

TOTP: Will Noel be playing his Jam Rickenbacker?

Steve: "I play the guitar! He's on keyboards. I said keyboards or nothing!"

And as for Noel himself...

TOTP: We’re really pleased that you’ve come down tonight and played with Ocean Colour Scene.

Noel: "Ocean Colour Scene played with us!"

That's not what Steve says...

Steve: "It's two separate bands but it's nice to know we're friends enough to take part in this at the end of the day."

TOTP: Are you temping for them?

Steve: "No they're temping for us!"

TOTP: Liam, have you got your new band members yet?

Liam: "Not yet. We still need a bass player, we've got a guitarist and we're rockin', but we need a bass player. We should have one by the new year."

TOTP: What's the new Oasis album going to be like?

Liam: (grins) "I can't tell you that, that'd be like pinching little bits off me!" (proceeds to pinch TOTP's ribs to illustrate his point)

Hmm, not very useful, eh? Noel?

Noel: "The single’s called Go Let It Out. The album’s not got a title, all I can tell you is that it’s got 10 tracks. Liam’s first attempt at writing a song is on there. It’s got 10 tracks on it - Liam’s got one, which is really good…there are 2 shit ones which I wrote, and the other 7 are all right."

Sounds great. So, what we really want to know is what they think of the Pops, now they're all huge and famous and everything. First answer came from Noel, batty as ever:

TOTP: Is Top of the Pops still a good thing for you?

Noel: "It’s Top of the Pops...Mark Bolan, David Bowie, Slade, The Jam, The Smiths...they all did Top of the Pops. Top of the Pops is Top of the Pops! Before you had a record deal, you always wanted to be on Top of the Pops. I’m actually calling my first child Top of the Pops. He’s going to be called Top of the Pops Gallagher. When he gets older, he won’t be able to get a job with a name like Top of the Pops Gallagher, but can you imagine if there’s a band and they need a lead guitarist, but there’s this geezer called Top of the Pops Gallagher!"

How's baby Lennon doing?

Liam: "Who?"

TOTP: Lennon, your baby...

Liam: "My baby? He's a baby! You know, eating, sleeping, farting, screaming..."

Stepson James seriously ill? 09/10/99

Distraught Patsy Kensit's seven-year-old son James is battling a mystery lung disease. I'm saddened to hear that Patsy and husband Liam Gallagher are said to be "baffled and worried sick" by the illness. I'm told they are planning to see a top specialist today in a bid to ease their fears. James fell ill only days after Patsy gave birth to son Lennon, now three weeks old. At first, it was thought the youngster Patsy's son by her second husband, rocker Jim Kerr- had caught a bug from school. But James's condition worsened, and a doctor diagnosed a problem with his left lung. A friend tells me: ''Like any good parents, Patsy and Liam are desperately concerned. James has been very poorly indeed. "Patsy thought he'd just picked up something at school, but he's got worse and worse. It's difficult to know what the matter is until he's seen a specialist.'' To add to Patsy's problems, her nanny recently quit without warning the family home in Primrose Hill, north London.

The friend added: "It's very exhausting for Patsy with a new-born baby and a seven-year-old who is seriously under the weather." Oasis star Liam, 26, is equally worried. He has become a devoted stepfather to James since he and Patsy moved in together in March 1997. Oasis's new album, Where Do We Go From Here, includes a rare Liam-penned song, Little James, written about his stepson. The pal tells me: ''Liam may come across as a wild rocker, but he's devoted to the boy." Poor Patsy, who split from James's 39-year-old father three years ago, has had a miserable health year. In December, she came close to death from food poisoning after eating oysters on holiday in Venice with Liam. She was given emergency drugs but suffered a violent reaction in which her tongue swelled up, threatening to block her air passages. Patsy was rushed to hospital for treatment and had a second examination on her return to Britain. A friend said at the time: "She could have died." A month earlier, Patsy attended a Harley Street clinic following a breast cancer scare. Thankfully, she was given the all clear.

Liam Talks About Releases 08/10/99

LIAM GALLAGHER has told Radio 1 that new Oasis material will be unveiled in January 2000.

Speaking to Scott Mills on the Top Of The Pops Radio Show, Liam also gives a date for the new album. "I'd say, if you're lucky, about February," he says. "You'll hear the single in January."

Noel has already told NME that the single will be 'Go Let It Out' and the album will be 'Where Did It Al Go Wrong'.

You can hear the interview on Top Of The Pops Radio Show on Radio 1 on Sunday, October 10 at 3pm.

Nanny For A Night! 07/10/99

She lasted a fortnight. Proud parents Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit have suffered a setback - their new nanny has walked out on them. The nanny, handpicked by Patsy to care for new-born Lennon, quit after just a fortnight in the job. Last night friends of the couple told me Patsy was "surprised and slightly disappointed" by her baby-minder's sudden exit. "Patsy was really relying on this woman and expected her to stick around a little longer than she did," said one friend. I'm told that the lucky candidate was promised her own London flat, pounds 400 a week spending money and frequent trips aboard. In return, she was expected to care for Lennon born last month and James, Patsy's seven-year-old son by ex-husband Jim Kerr. The 31-year-old actress interviewed ten hopefuls at the pounds 1.2 million mansion she shares with Oasis singer Liam, 27, in Primrose Hill, North London. Everything was sorted out in good time but Lennon's arrival six weeks early threw a spanner in the works. The nanny was asked to start early and was charged with looking after James while Patsy, who had Lennon by caesarian, stayed at London's pounds 1,300-a-night Portland Hospital. "You could say she found working for Mr and Mrs Gallagher a little strange," one of the nanny's associates told me yesterday. "Although she was happily hired after being interviewed by the family, it's a different story when you finally start the job. "The nanny felt uncomfortable and that she wasn't the necessarily the person Liam and Patsy needed, so she decided to leave."

 The Return Of The Gallaghers!

If you're troubled by all the news of strife in the Oasis camp, take heart from the news that Liam Gallagher will be putting it all behind him to appear at this week's TOTP, filming in Birmingham, together with brother Noel. The younger Gallagher brother was booked to appear on this week's show with Ocean Colour Scene for their joint rendition of The Jam's classic '80s song Carnation. Brother Noel, who must be twiddling his thumbs for something to do, has clearly decided to tag along, and who knows, maybe he'll bring Paul Weller along too, for a dad-rock day out!

What's The Story? Noel Will Let It Out! -- 9901005
OASIS are to announce their replacement guitarist and bassist later this month following the departure in August of founder members Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs.
As speculation mounts as to who the replacements will be, Oasis press officer Johnny Hopkins denied that Richard Warren of Echoboy had turned down the bassist position.
"Richard (formerly of The Hybirds) was one of the names flying about, but there was never any meeting with the Gallaghers," he said. "Apparently, he was in to doing the job, but it was never pursued by us as he was still under contract to Mute so he couldn't give a long-term commitment to Oasis."
He also refused to confirm that Gem from former Creation band Heavy Stereo was the frontrunner in the race to become the new Oasis guitarist. Hopkins said: "It's not definitely going to be Gem, because no-one's actually tried out for the band yet. But that will take place relatively soon and there should be some sort of decision made in a few weeks."
Hopkins also confirmed that Noel was in the process of selling his London residence Supernova Heights in Belsize Park.
However, he denied reports that Noel and his wife Meg Mathews were about to buy a house in Ibiza, which sparked speculation that he was to become a tax exile.
Hopkins said that even though Oasis were to start a world tour in March and would be on the road for much of the year to promote their forthcoming new album - provisionally titled 'Where Did It All Go Wrong?' - the band would still spend most of their time at home.
People wanting to avoid paying tax by staying out of the UK for a year can only spend six weeks in the country on holiday.
Hopkins said that Noel and Meg were simply moving to their country home in Buckinghamshire in order to bring up their baby, which is due in February.
"The lads are not considering a tax dodge. Yes, they're going to be spending a lot of next year on a world tour, but Noel will be in the UK a lot. He wants to be around for the kid so I think he'll spend the majority of his time in the UK," Hopkins stated.
He added that Oasis had just finished mastering the new album in New York. A single, 'Go Let It Out', is expected early next year.
Also, reports elsewhere quote Liam as saying that Oasis plan to make six US radio appearances before the end of the year. This has yet to be confirmed.

Liam talks about future, Live shows in America in december!!

Liam Gallagher has spoken out publically in the November edition of Q Magazine about the recent departure of Bonehead and Guigsy. Liam said "the band haven't seen him [Guigsy] since he left France in March." He also confirmed that the band had shot the sleeve for the as-yet-untitled 4th album in New York, and emphasises that there was "no bad blood" between the band members, amid speculation that Noel had taken over completely and ruled the band. Liam also pencilled in the band schedule for the next seven months:

September: Cut the record and rehearse with new (un-named guitarist)

December: Play half a dozen American live radio "festival dates" + rehearse for March World Tour launch

McCartney says 'yeah, yeah, yeah' to Lennon Gallagher

LONDON, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Former Beatle Paul McCartney thinks it is ``cool'' Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher and his actress wife Patsy Kensit have named their son after John Lennon.

McCartney said he thought it was appropriate the bad boy of British pop music should choose to name his son after the late ex-Beatle who Gallagher acknowleges was a major inspiration behind Oasis's music.

``I think it's a cool name. It's a nice tribute. Liam has always obviously been a mega-fan of John's,'' McCartney told the tabloid newspaper Sun.

``I suppose it's like calling your baby after the Liverpool football team. I think it's a good name -- but then I would wouldn't I?'' he added.

McCartney said he was over grieving the death of his wife Linda, who lost her fight against cancer in April 1998 aged 56.

``I feel better now. It took about a year and then I just started to to think about it instead of grieving. My lasting memory of her is just her rock 'n roll spirit really.''

Oasis sued by ex-mate

The stormy career of Oasis has apparently hit fresh problems. A former friend is suing the band for breach of contract - Paul Ashbee says the group wouldn’t exist without him. He introduced Liam to guitarist, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, when the singer was working for his car cleaning company. He then worked as their roadie and claims the band ‘promised to see him right’ if they ever hit the big time. Now Ashbee has issued writs in the High Court against the five original members of Oasis. A spokesman for Creation says the band had not received the writs and couldn’t comment.

Noel & Madonna prove eminently quotable

Noel Gallagher, Madonna and the Spice Girls are among the luminaries whose quotes appear in the new edition of the Oxford Book of Quotations, alongside politicians, journalists, writers and footballers. The book's editor Elizabeth Knowles told the BBC that a good quote must be pithy and memorable, and relate to one particular set of circumstances - but apply more widely as well. "Not every quote that's well known fits all the criteria, but it's interesting to see what lodges in the public mind."

Anchored firmly in the country's collective mind, the words of the Spice Girls, "I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want" have already been appropriated in a hundred substandard sitcoms, but the words of Noel Gallagher and Madonna are unlikely to turn up in an episode of Babes in the Wood.

Madonna's contribution is a quip regarding her portrayal of Eva Peron; "Many people see Evita Peron as either a saint or the incarnation of Satan. That means I can definitely identify with her", while Noel Gallagher's memorable words hark back to Oasis' heyday: "I hope we mean more to people than putting money in a church basket. Has God played Knebworth lately?"

Gallaghers to grapple over Lennon lyrics?

JOHN LENNON's handwritten lyrics for 'I Am The Walrus' are expected to fetch more than £70,000 when they are auctioned in London on Thursday, (September 29) - with Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher rumoured to be bidding against each other for the prized possession.

Auction house Christie's is offering one sheet of words for the 1967 Beatles classic, featuring 20 lines of the song in black ink and a handful of corrections and deletions.

A spokesman for Oasis confirmed that the Gallaghers had shown an interest in memorabilia auctions in the past but couldn't say whether they would actually be going head to head over the lyrics. Liam, who named his son Lennon after the Beatles star, has previously declared 'I Am The Walrus' as one of his favourite songs.

Liam Found God? ( 29/09/99)

PRAISE the Lord! It looks like Liam Gallagher has found God.( This is real NEWSJ !!)

Former bad boy Liam has begun wearing religious T-shirts, like this one which reads: " Jesus is coming....look busy."

And Oasis star Liam has been keeping busy by blessing photographers waiting outside his home for a glimpse of his newborn baby Lennon.

The miracle of childbirth appears to have softened Liam's attitude towards religion.

In recent weeks, photographers have snapped him sporting fashion mistakes of biblical proportions, including mutton chop sideburns and Jesus sandals.

And many are beginning to wonder whether the singer has developed his own brand of happy-clappy evangelism.

Neighbours who witnesses Liam's bizarre belssing of the Fleet Street snappers were convinced he has seen the light.

One withness said: " He walked from his house and chanted "Bless you" to each photographer in turn.

"I thought he was having a laugh at first, but looking at his latest choice of T-shirts, I'm not so sure."

He has certainly changed his tune. Two years earlier, he insisted he would rather go to Hell than Heaven.

He said: " What's God got? The Insprial Carpets and nuns..."

His brother Noel was even more outrageous. He told the New Musical Express: "Oasis are bigger than God."

His comments echoed those of Oasis hero John Lennon when he bragged that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

Noel went on: " I'd hope we mean more than saying 10 Hail Marys on a Sunday.

"Has God played Knebworth recently?"

Noel Iterview about future(From 1/9/99)

Noel Gallagher has already written the songs for the Oasis single that will
follow up 'Go Let It Out', released in January 2000, so that the new members;
"Can get on with it".
In an interview in Melody Maker this week, Noel said that he was anxious that
they not leave recording new songs too long so that people wouldn't continue to
speculate on the future of Oasis.
In the wake of Guigsy's departure, Noel also confirmed that their world tour,
which kicks off in March 2000, will visit the UK last.
"I don't think England has seen the best of us." he said. "We usually start with
six massive gigs, but we don't hit our stride until after a month or two. I don't
think we played particularly well on the last tour. Coming out onstage in a big red
telephone box threw us a bit. That was a bad advert for drugs."
Noel again denied that there was any bad blood between him and Bonehead or
Guigsy. "I don't fall out with people easily. Apart from that knobhead out of Blur.
He looks like a dustbin man these days, but good luck to him."
Noel also said that his ideal line-up would be "...John Squire, Nick McCabe and
Simon Jones from The Verve." Though he admitted that the line-up probably
wouldn't work out.
As if to fire-up more rumours, Richard Ashcroft and wife Kate from Spiritualized
were spotted leaving Olympic Studios in Barnes, London last week while Oasis were
completing work on the record.
Creation records boss Alan McGee told NME at Reading: "The album got finished
yesterday, and it's sounding absolutely great. It's Oasis, but it's Oasis in the year
1999. It's different to the other albums, it's a move on and the production's better
than it's ever been. It's really really beautiful."
McGee was also in the dark about possible replacements: "They've still got loads of
steam. I've spent a lot of time recently with Liam Gallagher and the guy is more
alive than almost any other musician I know. He's still 100 per cent totally up for
being in a band and being in Oasis. I think if Noel left, Liam would carry on, do you
know what I mean? Liam is just living for it. He's in amazing form."
