Firstly a little about me, if you care to indulge me. I was born on the 18th August 1959 as Charles Alan Foyle-Randolph, to Helena Elizabeth Patricia Foyle-Randolph (Tina Ladell), who lived on the Kacheta Farm, Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia (Zambia), in the Lady Rodwell Hospital in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). We eventually got reacquainted this year (2013) and I hooked up with my siblings, Kas Ladell, Margot Bennett and Andrew Ladell.

I was immediately adopted by Alice Mary Hawkshaw, who was the matron of St. Gabriel's Home and Nursery Training College, and began my life as Simon Paul Hawkshaw.

I was (and am) a very fortunate Thalidomide baby, as I was only mildly affected by the drug and doubly fortunate to be adopted by Molly Hawkshaw, as she allowed me to live a "normal" life growing up, and having a Birth Mother as wonderful as Tina.

I completed my schooling at Falcon College, Esigodini (Essexvale) in 1977 and was drafted into the Rhodesian army for service before attending the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg South Africa. I had high hopes of being a vet .. but that soon petered out when I found out I had to repeat first year again for the correct entrance prerequisites.

Upon ending my varsity career I returned to be a bank clerk in Bulawayo, but left the country in 1980 and emigrated to South Africa. Once in South Africa I was a medical orderly / handy man at a home for mentally handicapped children for 10 months before joining Olivetti Africa (PTY) Ltd (now WANG Global) as a typewriter technician. I moved through the ranks until I had done all types of machines right up to the Digital mainframe machines. Having done that I then moved into the software support environment and completed my MCSE certification in 1994. I subsequently moved away from Olivetti and started training the MCSE curriculum until moving to the States .

I was married in 1987 to my childhood sweetheart but got divorced . We have two children Shaun 23 and Nastassja 21

I have now moved on from South Africa and am working for EMC in Massachusetts, USA. I am currently involved with training the new Systems Engineers on the products and am also busy with the development of new training materials with a focus on integration solutions.

So to finally get round to the purpose of this site. I have written over the years many pieces of prose / poetry that have reflected my many emotional states and moods. They have charted my course through life both from an emotional aspect and a reflection of the people that have touched my life. They are a direct insight into my most inner being and hopefully, what I have experienced will help or offer solace to all of you that take the time to read them, and may the words you find here help or offer you some joy, some sadness, but always a refuge or release from your own troubles.
