Melee Island This is where it all began back in the days of grog-swilling pirates and voodoo trickery. Guybrush washed up on Melee Island determined to become a real pirate, and fulfilled his ambition before too long, mastering the arts of insult sword fighting, thievery, and treasure hunting. Other inhabitants of Melee included Meathook, the not-so-fearsome pirate; Carla, the Sword Master; Stan, who ran a used ship emporium; the men of low moral-fiber, who lacked moral-fiber; the amazing Fettucini brothers, and, of course, Elaine Marley, who naturally occupied a huge, piranha-poodle protected mansion outside o town.

Monkey Island After Elaine was captured by LeChuck, she was taken to a secret underground hideout on Monkey Island, a notoriously difficult place to find by sail. Before Guybrushs somewhat miraculous arrival on the island, Herman Toothrot was the only human inhabitant. He was in constant dispute with his not-so-close neighbours the Cannibals, who had the downright audacity to steal the poor mans banana-picker. Mr. Threepwoods crew, comprising Carla, Meathook and Otis, also lived on the island for a short while, but preferred the cooler climes of Melee Island. Monkey Island is also the home of the world famous Giant Monkey Head.

Scabb Island One of the more rundown locales across the Caribbean. Scabb Island was crippled by the embargo of Largo LaGrande, onetime sidekick of LeChuck, and largely responsible for his rebirth as an evil Zombie Pirate. Among the long-suffering Scabb Islanders included Bart and Fink, grog-loving pirate types; Mad Marty, who ran a laundry service; the Bloody Lip barman, who, strangely enough, ran the Bloody Lip Bar, and, who could forget, Wally B. Feed, the partially sighted cartographer who donned a monocle and always had a healthy supply of plain white paper. Captain Dread was at the helm of a ship charter business just of the Scabb Island coast.

Booty Island As the name might suggest, Booty was of the more refined parts of the Caribbean, boasting the official residence of the governor of the Tri-Island Area, none other than Elaine Marley. The Mardi Gras was always a big thing for Booty Islanders, as was the famous Spitting Contest. Stan set up a used-coffin shop on Booty, and was joined on the island by such people as Kate Capsize, a pirate woman who sold trips in a glass-bottomed boat; Rum Rogers, who inhabited a small cottage just off of the Booty mainland, and old Augustus DeWaat, who kept a keen eye on the port, watching and listening out for invaders, swashbucklers and scurvy-ridden pirate sorts.

Phatt Island Ruled over by yet another ally of LeChucks, Governor Phatt, who employed a system of strict law and order on the island, which even accommodated its own traditional jail. Guybrush was a wanted man on Phatt Island, and claims that he was in fact a twin brother of Guybrush Threepwood never really held up, resulting in a visit to the jail, as well as the bloated Governors well posh digs. Also to be seen on Phatt Island were Ralph, the lucky gambler; Bruno, Ralphs gambling assistant and part-time code cracker; the arrogant fisherman; the ever-so-intent-on-quiet librarian, and Walt the dog, who inadvertently helped Guybrush escape from jail.

Dinky Island Dinky was central to Guybrushs quest to find the treasure of Big Whoop. Legend had it that the famous treasure was buried somewhere on this island, and that the map to Dinky had been split between four pirates who would thereafter go their separate ways. Eventually of course, Guybrush washed up on the island, where he would be reunited with none other than Herman Toothrot, whod taken to philosophy. Also on the island was a cracker-hungry talking parrot, which aided Guybrush in pinpointing the big x. Having discovered the burial place of Big Whoop, Guybrush dug and dug, before falling into the large hole, and unearthing Big Whoop.

Plunder Island Guybrush winds up on Plunder after accidentally cursing his bride-to-be Elaine with a more-to-it-than-first-meets-the-eye diamond ring. Dogged Guybrush struggles on in an effort to lift the curse, with help from fellow pirates and, er, hair stylists, Haggis McMutton, Cutthroat Bill and Edward van Helgen, of The Barbery Coast. Also present on the lush shores of Plunder were Palido, the sun-loving criminal; the Cabana Boy, who ran the Brimstone Beach Club; Captain Blondebeard, restaurant owner; the ever present Voodoo Lady, who set up home in yet another swampy place, and the pirate-thespians, who attracted not so big audiences of monkeys.

Blood Island Having traced the pure ring to Blood Island, Guybrush sets about securing it, along with the future of his presently solid gold wife (oops). Blood is home to the Goodsoup Family Hotel, owned by Griswold Goodsoup, and the island has numerous associations with the Goodsoup dynasty, including the family crypt. Stan returns, this time selling life insurance at Mutual of Stan. Others to appear on Blood Island include Lemonhead; Mort, an unfortunate undertaker who took care of Guybrush more than once, and the Flying Welshman, who revived his boat trip service after trusty old Guybrush had fixed the lighthouse.

Skull Island That looks like a duck, not a skull goddam it! No, wait, its a rabbit, see? No its definitely a duck. Skull Island was the secret gambling haven of King Andre and his gambling partner Cruff. The two were very keen on card games, but failed to outwit Guybrush in a one off, high-stakes hand of poker. Skull was in close proximity to Blood Island, but surrounded by persistent cloud and mist, meaning that the only means by which to get from one island to the other was through the services of the Flying Welshman. The only other person to appear on Skull was Efette LaFoot, whose job it was to operate the manual elevator down to the cave.

Melee Island Since Monkey Island 1, Melee has undergone more than a few changes. The threat of commercialism is hanging over the place, Elaines governmental position is in doubt, and Charles L. Charles is in town, running against her. The Scumm Bar is still in tact (just), and Meathooks quarters are now known as the House of Wax. Used ships are still sold by the harbor and the Marley mansion is as impressive as ever. New inhabitants on the island included Ignatius Cheese, owner of the Scumm Bar, and George and Ned, top-notch darts players usually to be found practicing in the Scumm Bar. Carla and Otis remain longstanding Melee Islanders.

Lucre Island Guybrush traveled to Lucre Island on a legal errand, but ended up being suspected of bank robbery following Pegnose Petes raid on the island bank, disguised as a Mr. G. Threepwood. Other dwellers on the island included Ozzie Mandrill, the Aussie tycoon with designs for world monopolization; Freddie the stick guy, and Deadeye Dave, of the House of Prostheses. Lucre was the monetary capital of the Caribbean, home to the Second Bank of Lucre, as well as the law office and the Lucre jailhouse, watched over by Inspector Canard. Situated to the north of the island is a large, mystical swamp, otherwise known as the Mystes of Time.

Jambalaya Island Guybrush drops anchor at the Jambalaya docks in search of the Ultimate Insult, which consists of three parts. The impact of commercialism is acutely evident on the island, which boasts, among other things, a Planet Threepwood, a Groggery Inn, and a Starbuccaneers. Stan returns on Jambalaya running a timeshare business to the east. The island also hosts a diving competition, with Marco de Pollo undoubtedly the leading contender. Knuttin Atoll is a smaller island off of the Jambalaya coast, keenly watched over by Admiral Casaba. Knuttin Atoll is home to the pirate reformation school, headed by the stern Miss Rivers.

Monkey Island It seems that theres been an increase in the monkey population on the island since last time, as well as an increase in the number of monkeys trained in the art of Monkey Kombat. To the west lies a grand cathedral, surrounded by pools of lava, which flow across to the other side of the island. Herman is again living on the island, and is free from any flesh-eating Cannibal communities. The world famous Giant Monkey Head is of course still present, and contains many more mysteries than meets the eye. Timmy the monkey accompanied Guybrush on Monkey Island, but wasnt so helpful when it came to helping out in Monkey Kombat. Eek, Ack, Chee!
