This is a small tree. The flowers are white with red eye. This plant are common along riverside and sea shores. The latex and seeds are poisonous. The bark, leaves and oil extracted from the seeds are used in native medicine. Another related species is the "Cerbera odollam Gaertn." having white flowers with yellow eye.
