Pokok herba semusim yang berasal dari Afrika, Mexico dan Guatemala. Bunganya indah dan menarik tetapi berbau. Tinggi pokok antara 20 hingga 40 cm. Ada banyak jenis hybrid, yang saiz bunganya berbedza serta berjenis warna. Pokok ini dibiakkan dari biji benih.

Annual herbacious plants that originated from Africa, Mexico and Guatemala. The flowers are attractive but is smelly. The plant is about 20 to 40 cm high. There are many hybrids, Their flower size and colours varies greatly. The plants can be propagated through seeds.

From the book Medicinal Plants of Thailand, the water extract of flower kills plant nematodes, contains pyrethrin and volatile oil which showa bactericidal and fungicidal effects in vitro.
