Another one Bites the Dust.
Buffy is gone, and leaving many puzzled on what is to come next.
So far word is out to expect Several Buffy Cast members to cameo on Angel, which still airs on the WB. Actor James Marsters (Spike) has joined the Angel cast for the next season as a featured player. (See WB site for more details) Actress Carisma Carpenter who gave birth to a healthy baby boy before the end of last season will not be joining the cast this year as a regular.
Don't get excited to hope that other cast members will follow James to Angel. Both "Xander" and "Faith" have their own shows to worry about. Nicholas Brendon's show pilot was not picked up for a season, but Eliza Dushku's show did and should be airing on Fox this fall.
Alyson Hannigan was hoped to go to Angel, but those rumors are false. The actress who has kept her schedule busy with Buffy, her guest spot on Angel, and filming the 3rd American Pie (American Wedding) has not made any decistions on where she is going. Hopefully she will Guest spot with her future husband (Angel's Alexis Denisof) "Wesley" this coming season at least for a show or two.
No word yet on what "Buffy" Sarah Michelle Gellar is up to. Production for the upcoming Scooby Doo 2 show be wrapping soon, and no other word on what's next for the actress.
With a NEW Buffy Video Game to be released later this year or early next, it has been set to have the cast from the original Game (and show) preform the voices for the characters (Minus Mrs Gellar, who did not do the voice in the first game, and what looks like she has decided not to continue in the next)
Our English friends should be happy to know that Joss Whedon has not given up hopes that the BBC will approve an English Spin off of Buffy called "Ripper" Based on the "Watcher" Rupert Giles. While this rumor has been around for 2 years since the actor left Buffy in season 6 with new prospects coming on more spin offs, hopfuly this will be a reality.
As for a Spin off of Buffy? No News as of this year, BUT hopes are high for next year if not this one. So at least keep your eyes out for Angel, to air on the WB this fall on Wedsdays.
