JORDAN DESIREE' CARTER

(All photos are thumbprints. Please click

Jordan Desiree' Carter entered the world on August 16, 1998 at 1:06 a.m.........She weighed in at 10 lbs and was 21 1/4 inches long. The photo below was taken by her VERY proud Grandma  (me!) about 10 minutes after the birth.

Everyone has a birth story, and no web page would be complete without mentioning Jordan's! Her mom, Jaime, was uncomfortable that day before the birth. No real contractions to time, just uncomfortable! SO? Jaime, Mike (the proud dad), myself and great- grandma Lanny headed to Cracker Barrel Restaurant for a little late night snack...(It was about 11:00 p.m.). We sat down to order and it became apparent that Jaime was getting just a bit more uncomfortable. Within a few minutes, we were timing her contractions....first 10 min, then 5, then she became so uncomfortable she decided to wait in the car. We then asked the waitress to make our order to go. I went to the car to check on Jaime....she was ready to head home and grab her suitcase. I called the ob/gyn.....by then, Jaime was leaving me with the impression that time was of the essence! We skipped the trip home for the bags and headed straight to the hospital....arriving there before 11:45 p.m.. We managed to get Jaime settled in her room and thinking we had plenty of time to run home for her bags, my mom and I left. We grabbed what we needed, made the important phone calls and headed back to the hospital.....JUST MAKING IT! Jordan made her debute within an hour and a half from the time we left the restaurant. I must make a "plug" here for Cracker Barrel.....The staff were fantastic....they had our order ready to go quickly and invited us to return for a meal "on the house" after Jordan was born. We never did get to eat much of that  "to go"meal! There was a full house during the birth...besides mom and dad, of course, Great Grandma was there. In addition, there was me...the proud Grandma, Jaime's dad (the VERY proud Grandpa) and a very good family friend, Linda. Thanks Linda! It sure was great to have you there! Aside from a few complications during birth, mom and baby are now home and doing fantastic!

Meet Mike....the proud father!

And here is Jordan at 2 weeks old!

JORDAN'S JOURNAL

Sept 22, 1998......needless to say, long distance phone bills will be huge! I want Jordan to at least hear my voice since I can't see her everyday. Jaime and I also stay in contact via snail mail........Jordan is now 10 lbs 15 oz and 22 inches long. She is cooing, smiling, holding her head up and trying to scoot across the floor on her belly! Mom (Jaime) also says Jordan has her temper! LOOK OUT WORLD!

Sept 25, 1998.......phone call from Jaime stating Jordan is now weighing in at 11 lbs, 11 oz......may well be the first pro-football female player!!!

October 5, 1998.........Jordan is really spoiling mommy and daddy....she is sleeping from 9:30 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. Gee, sure wish my kids would sleep that late! She also loves watching T.V. already...UH OH!

October 10, 1998.....Jordan received her very first award for this page....please visit the Awards 2 page to view! Thanks JHarris!

October 21, 1998......Heard from Mom Jaime today....she is up and running on AOL...that sure will make it easier to hear about Jordan and her achievements! She would sure like some email.....Jaime's computer is down!

Jordan weighed in at the doc's office on Monday, October 19th...she is tipping the scales at 12 lbs, 10 oz and is 23 1/2 inches long! She loves to watch Sesame Street and Bear in the Blue House....both are thankfully rated "G"!

October 28, 1998.....Newly scanned pics below and I also hear there are more on the way in snail mail!

And Jordan's mom writes on Nov. 10th, 1998......"Jordan is getting so big and you wouldn't believe how smart she is. She is also very alert to what is going on around her.  She knows her name, recognizes everyone now and is grabbing really well with her hands.  She also likes to look at her hands and chew on them!"

April 29, 1999......I am so very behind on scanning pics, and updating this journal...I don't know where to begin. I guess I should say how very much I miss watching Jordan grow up...Her mom tells me she has changed so much and is learning new things everyday. I talk to Jordan on the phone, at least she will always be able to recognize my voice. "Miss Jordan" tells me that she doesn't like baby food, she sits in her high chair and eats cheerios and grahm crackers. She loves to go to the mall....starting to love shopping at a young age!! She also tells me she likes to play with her cat and the cat likes to steal her pacifier. The pics below are of Jordan at 5, 6,  and 7 months old. She is just such a cutie, don't you think?

Imagine my excitement when opening the mail, only to discover I have received more pics of Jordan. Mom Jaime says Jordan is "talking up a storm and crawling around all over the place." It seems that Jordan may be coming for a visit in August as well. I sure hope the trip works out!! Below are Jordan's new 9 month old pics....I thought they were all so cute and I couldn't decide which one to scan, so? I scanned them all. Isn't that what a proud grandma is supposed to do?

This is mom Jaime at 1 yr old.
Do you see the resemblance?
