Former Child Star Central (FAQ) was a early online resource on child stars and teen idols that was actively curated from 1997-2013.

Joal Ryan was the editor and founder. A child stardom expert, Ryan has appeared on Nightline and CNN, and been quoted by the London Times and Washington Post, among others.

Called an "information mecca" by the London Times, Former Child Star Central was featured on CNN, and noted by Newsweek, Politico, Entertainment Weekly, Salon, FishbowlLA, AMC, Movieline, the Boston Phoenix, Film Threat and others.

Originated in 1997 as the ezine, Former Child Star Palooza, Former Child Star Central became a stand-alone site in 1999.

Ryan is a journalist, and the author of Former Child Stars: The Story of America's Least Wanted (ECW Press). She hosts the weekly, pop-culture podcast, The Joal Ryan Thing.
