The original Enchanted Tiki Room opened at Disneyland in 1963. It was the first attraction designed around Audio Animatronics. Although located in Adventureland, the entrance to this attraction is just outside the land's gates. The facade is basically a steeply peeked, thatched roof.

The Tiki Room is sponsored by Dole Pineapple and the Disneyland preshow area contains a juice bar where you can purchase pineapple juice, pineapple spears, and Dole whip, a frozen pineapple treat.

The preshow starts off with a short industrial film on pineapples and how Dole grows, harvests and cans them.

Scattered around the preshow area are idols of the Polynesian gods. After the film, the gods introduce themselves. The idol of Pele, the fire goddess, even shoots flames from its head. Copies of these same idols can be found on the grounds of the Polynesian hotel at the Walt Disney World resort.

Inside the Tiki Room, rows of chairs are arraigned in a square facing a fountain at the center of the chamber. Above our heads hang baskets of flowers and a myriad of Birds on a variety of perches. Tiki idols decorate the walls. When everyone is seated, the host taps one of the perches and José, our bird MC, comes to life.  He introduces the other three hosts, Michael, Fritz and Pierre and the show begins with the famous Tiki Bird song, "In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room", one of the many Disney theme park songs written by the Sherman brothers.

The next number is heralded by the enchanted fountain at the center of the room. A spout of water rises impossibly high. Then a rotating perch lowers from an opening in the ceiling and we are introduced to the lady birds. The whole troop then breaks into "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" and we are invited to sing and whistle along with them.

Next the baskets of flowers come to life and the blossoms begin to sing "Hawaiian War Chant." Suddenly the Tiki Idols come to life and join in along with the birds. As the song reaches its climax a sudden thunder storm breaks out. This singles the end of the song and the show.

The second version of the Enchanted Tiki Room opened with the Magic Kingdom in 1971. It has had several names over the course of its life. It has been know as the Sunshine Pavilion, Tropical Serenade and Enchanted Tiki Birds. The attraction has recently undergone a major renovation and is now The Enchanted Tiki Room- under new management. The preshow begins as a waterfall parts and we see two birds purched in a stone chamber beyond it. They are William and Morris, two hollywood agents. They each represent one of the two new owners of the enchanted Tiki Room. It is an entertaining show filled with bird puns in which the two agent-birds argue over whose client is the bigger star. It's hard not to recognize the voices of Don Rickles and Phil Hartman as the two birds.

The show itself starts off very like it always has. The four bird MCs wake up the glee club and begind singing the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room. They don't get far before Iago, the parrot from "Aladdin" makes an appearence and orders them to stop singing. He is the new owner along with Zazu, the hornbill from "The Lion King," who also makes an appearence.

Iago breaks into a version of "Friend Like Me" from "Aladdin" where he tells the Tiki Birds how outdated their show and their Audio Animatronics are. He goes on to insult the Tiki gods so, of course, one of them puts in an appearnce. She is the Tiki goddess of disastor and she sings a song and zaps Iago. Zazu calls on the Tiki gods to have their say and they break into a version of, "In the Still of the Night." Iago reapears and says that the Tiki gods are the greatest act he's ever heard, then he orders the audience to go away and make room for the next show.

The exterior of the attraction remained largely unchanged. It features a large bamboo pagoda with a thatched roof.

The third version of Enchanted Tiki Room opened with Tokyo Disneyland in 1983. Although this attraction opened with a Japanese language version of the original show, on October 15, 1999 a new and unique show premiered there. The new show, "Enchanted Tiki Room: Catch the Fever," deals with what happens after the four original birds have flown away and four new birds - three guys and and gal - try to wake up the sleeping Tiki Room.

There is no Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland Paris.
