Should a person spend a lot of time talking to a demon that he is about to cast out?

Should a person spend a lot of time talking to a demon that he is about to cast out?

By John Chopores

Luke 4:35  But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. [NKJV].

You will notice here, that Jesus did let the demon take up a lot of His time talking!

Why should a person take up a lot of time, talking to a demon? A demon is an evil spirit and does not want to help build-up the Church! Cf. Matthew 12:26  And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

A demon, no more wants to tell the truth, then his boss, the Devil! Cf. John 8:44  "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Acts 13:10  and said, "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

We should not want to talk to a demon any more than talking to the Devil!

Cf. Acts 13:10  and said, "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

Ephesians 4:27  nor give place to the devil.

Jude 1:9  Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

Even Michael the archangel, did not spend a lot of time talking to the devil.

One reason that the Devil and his demons, want to talk to humans, is to deceive them!

Cf.Revelation 20:10  The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Jesus did not need to have long talks with demons, to cast them out!

Cf. Matthew 8:16  When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, [NKJV].

Jesus did ask a demon his name. And a demon's name can tell you a lot about him. But it probably did not take much of the time of the Lord Jesus Christ, to ask the demon his name!

Cf. Mark 5:9  And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
