How to find a godly wife! By John Chopores How to
find a godly wife! First, know that, the wife is to be of the
same faith! cf. Gen
24:2 And Abraham said unto his eldest
servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy
hand under my thigh: Gen
24:3 And I will make thee swear by the
LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not [1]take
a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I
dwell: Gen
24:4 But thou shalt go unto my country,
and to my [2]kindred,
and [3]take
a wife unto my son Isaac. Look for a woman of godly character. cf. Gen
24:14 And let it come to pass, that the
damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may
drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the
same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I
know that thou hast showed kindness unto my master. Prov
31:30 Favour is [4]deceitful,
and beauty is [5]vain:
but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. "Charms
are deceptive, and beauty is a breath" (AAT) However, God may give to you a beautiful
wife. cf. Gen
24:16 And the damsel was [6]very
[7]fair
to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the
well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. Know, however, that a beautiful wife, is
not always, the best wife! Jacob loved the beautful Rachel. cf. Gen
29:17 (KJV) Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel
was [1][8]beautiful
and well [2][9]favoured. "...
elegant in form as well as lovely in countenance" (Sprl) "...lovely
of form and face" (Ber) Gen
29:18 (KJV) And Jacob [10]loved
Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger
daughter. Gen
29:19 (KJV) And Laban said, It is better
that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with
me. Gen
29:20 (KJV) And Jacob served seven years
for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to
her. But,
she was an idoler! cf. Gen 31:19 And
Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that
were her father's. Also,
Rachel would, at times, boss Jacob! cf. Gen 30:1 And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no
children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or
else I die. Gen
30:2 And Jacob's anger was kindled
against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee
the fruit of the womb? Gen
30:3 And she said, Behold my maid
Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have
children by her. Gen
30:4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid
to wife: and Jacob went in unto her. It is
eaesy to love a beautiful woman for her looks! cf. Gen 29:30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved
also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years. Rachel,
thought so little of Jacob, as to sell his services for a little food! cf.Gen
30:15 And she said unto her, Is it a
small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my
son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to
night for thy son's mandrakes. And Jacob was so weak, that he obeyed her! cf.
Gen 30:16 And Jacob came out of the
field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come
in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And
he lay with her that night. As an example of a good woman look at
Ruth. She was loyal cf. Ruth 1:14 And
they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law;
but Ruth clave unto her. Ruth
1:15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in
law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy
sister in law. Ruth
1:16 And Ruth said, [11]Entreat
me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou
goest, I will go; and where thou [12]lodgest,
I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Ruth
1:17 Where thou diest, will I die, and
there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death
part thee and me. Ruth
1:18 When she saw that she was [13]stedfastly
minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. She had a strong will for the right! Ruth
was also a real friend, the name "Ruth" means "friend". cf.
7327. Ruwth, rooth; prob. for H7468; friend; Ruth, a Moabitess:--Ruth. see
also, GE-TR. PAGE. 763.
Ask for God's help in finding her. cf. Gen
24:12 And he said, O LORD God of my
master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and show kindness
unto my master Abraham. If
you do not, you may make a bad mistake! cf. Josh 9:14 And the men took of their victuals, and asked
not counsel at the mouth of the LORD. Josh
9:15 And Joshua made peace with them,
and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the
congregation sware unto them. Josh
9:16 And it came to pass at the end of
three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they
were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them. Josh 10:5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the
king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of
Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and
all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it. Josh
10:6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto
Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants;
come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the
Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us. The
counsel that you get, should be from the Lord, and not from those who hate God!
cf.Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that
walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of
sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Mat
4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit
into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.Mat 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought
how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye
shall speak. Mat
10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but
the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is
come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to
come.1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might
know the things that are freely given to us of God. But,
you must have faith in God, and His willness to bless you. Seek Him, with a
will! cf.Heb 11:6 But without faith
it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he
is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Prov
18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a
good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.Prov 5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and
rejoice with the wife of thy youth. A good woman, will be- 1.
Tactful cf. 1 Sam 25:3 Now the name of
the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of
good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish
and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb. 1 Sam 25:14 But one of the young men told Abigail,
Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to
salute our master; and he [14]railed
on them. 1 Sam
25:15 But the men were very good unto
us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were
conversant with them, when we were in the fields: 1 Sam
25:16 They were a wall unto us both by
night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. 1 Sam
25:23 And when Abigail saw David, she
hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed
herself to the ground, 1 Sam
25:24 And fell at his feet, and said,
Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray
thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid. 1 Sam
25:25 Let not my lord, I pray thee,
regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he;[1][15]Nabal
is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men
of my lord, whom thou didst send. In the Hebrew, "Nabel",
means, "a fool". 1 Sam
25:26 Now therefore, my lord, as the
LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from
coming to shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine
enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal. 1 Sam
25:27 And now this blessing which thine
handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men
that follow my lord. 1 Sam
25:28 I pray thee, forgive the trespass
of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house;
because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found
in thee all thy days. Est
5:5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to
make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to
the banquet that Esther had prepared. Est
5:6 And the king said unto Esther at
the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee:
and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed. Est
5:7 Then answered Esther, and said, My
petition and my request is; 2.
Prudent cf. Prov 19:14 House and riches
are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD. 3.
Loyal cf. Gen 31:14 And Rachel and Leah
answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in
our father's house? Gen
31:15 Are we not counted of him
strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money. 4.
Will look out for your good cf. Prov 31:11
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have
no need of spoil. Prov
31:12 She will do him good and
not evil all the days of her life. 5.
Will, be respectfull to those in a position of power (from God)! cf. 1 Sam
25:23 And when Abigail saw David, she
hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and
bowed herself to the ground, 1 Sam
25:15 But the men were very good unto
us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were
conversant with them, when we were in the fields: 1 Sam
25:16 They were a wall unto us both by
night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. 1 Sam
25:17 Now therefore know and consider
what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all
his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him. 1 Sam
25:28 I pray thee, forgive the
trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure
house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been
found in thee all thy days. Know,
that, marriage is good in the eyes of God cf. Prov 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing,
and obtaineth favour of the LORD. Heb 13:4
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and
adulterers God will judge. A good wife, is a gift from God cf. Prov
19:14 House and riches are the
inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD. And is a good gift, because, God only gives
good gifts to His childen! cf. James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down
from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning. Mat
7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to
give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in
heaven give good things to them that ask him? Like many gifts of God, be sure
to ask Him for it! However, also, know, that not all are
called to marrage cf. Mat 19:12 (KJV)
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb:
and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be
eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake.
He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. 1 Cor 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I
myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this
manner, and another after that. It you are called to it, being unmarried, can
be best for you. 1 Cor
7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and
widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. Gen
31:16 For all the riches which God hath
taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever
God hath said unto thee, do. 4.
Virtuous cf. Prov 12:4 A [1][16]virtuous
woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness
in his bones. [1] 5.
Incorruptible cf. 6. Wise cf. Prov 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. [1]03947 laqach {law-kakh'} a primitive

- Imperfect See 08811 Count - 19885 The imperfect
expresses an action, process or condition which is incomplete,
and it has a wide range of meaning: 1a) It is
used to describe a single (as opposed to a repeated) action in the past; it differs from the perfect in
being more vivid and pictorial. The perfect expresses the
"fact", the imperfect adds colour and movement by suggesting the
"process" preliminary to its completion. he put forth his hand to the door it came to a halt I began to hear 1b) A phrase
such as "What seekest thou?", refers not only to the present, but assumes that the search has
continued for some time. Why do you weep? Why refuse to eat? Why
are you distressed? These relate not so much as to one occasion,
as to a continued condition. 2) The kind
of progression or imperfection and unfinished condition of the action may consist it its frequent
repetition. 2a) In the present: it is "said" today a wise son "maketh glad" his
father 2b) In the past: "and so he did" -
regularly, year by year a mist "used to go up" the fish which "we used to
eat" the manna "came down" - regularly he "spoke" - repeatedly 3) The
imperfect is used to express the "future", referring not only to an action which is about to be
accomplished but one which has not yet begun: 3a) This may be a future from the point of view
of the real present; as: Now "shalt thou see what I will
do" "We will burn" thy house 3b) It may be a future from any other point
of view assumed; as: he took his son the "was to
reign" she stayed to see what "should
be done" 4) The usage
of 3b may be taken as the transitive to a common use of the imperfect in which it serves for an
expression of those shades of relation among acts and thoughts for
which English prefers the conditional moods. Such actions are strictly
"future" in reference to the assumed point of relation, and the
simple imperfect sufficiently expresses them; e.g. of every tree thou "mayest
eat" "could we know" he "would" say 5a) The imperfect
follows particles expressing "transition", "purpose", "result" and
so forth as, "in order that", "lest"; e.g. say thou art my sister, "that it
may be well with thee" let us deal wisely with the nation,
"lest it multiples" 5b) When
however there is a strong feeling of "purpose", or when it is meant to be strongly marked, then of
course the moods are employed; e.g. raise me up "that I may requite
them" who will entice Ahab "that he may
go up" what shall we do "that the see may
be calm" The moods are also employed to express that
class of future actions which we express in the
"optative" "may I die" "may" the LORD
"establish" his word "may" the child "live" [2]04138 mowledeth {mo-leh'-deth} from 03205;

distant past in the beginning God

"I have (now) grown old" but "I have not seen" a
righteous man forsaken 1c) one already completed from the point of
view of another past act God saw everything that "he had
made" 1d) one completed from the point of view of
another action yet future I will draw for thy camels also until
"they have done" drinking 2) The
perfect is often used where the present is employed in English. 2a) in the case of general truths or actions
of frequent occurrence -- truths or actions which
have been often experienced or observed the grass "withereth" the sparrow "findeth" a
house 2b) an action or attitude of the past may be
continued into the present "I stretch out" my hands to
thee "thou never forsakest"
those who seek thee 2c) the perfect of intransitive verbs is
used where English uses the present; The perfect in Hebrew
in such a case emphasises a condition which has come
into "complete existence" and realisation "I know" thou wilt be king "I hate" all workers of
iniquity 2d) Sometimes in Hebrew, future events are
conceived so vividly and so realistically that they
are regarded as having virtually taken place and are
described by the perfect. 2d1) in promises, threats and language
of contracts the field "give I" thee and if not, "I will take
