How to keep from losing your money By John Chopores A lose woman can
cost you much money and you lose the respect of many of your friends and
business partners! Cf. Prov. 5:3 For the lips of an immoral woman drip
honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; 4 But in the end she is bitter as
wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. "wormwood"
was very bitter and a kind of poison! A " two-edged sword" cuts
both ways; the woman as well as the man can be harmed by a sexual affair. Prov. 5:10 Lest aliens be filled with your wealth,
And your labors go to the house of a foreigner; We see here that
spending your time and money on a "immoral woman" can cause your
money to end-up in the hands of people, who are not of your family! Prov. 5:11 And you mourn at last, When your flesh and
your body are consumed, All humans get old.
How do you want to look back at your life? Will you have used your time and
money for the good? Also, this verse
could also be talking about STD's that one can get from an "immoral
woman". Sin has a way of not
being open and seen until it is too late. Cf. Hosea 7:9
Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea,
gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not. That is one of the
reasons that God warns us in the Bible of these things, so we can know about
them ahead of time, and stay clear of them! Cf. Prov. 5:1 ¶ My
son! to my wisdom give attention, To mine understanding incline thine
ear, Prov.2:2 To observe thoughtfulness, And
knowledge do thy lips keep. [YLT]. 10 ¶ When wisdom
enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, 11 Discretion will preserve you;
Understanding will keep you, 12 To deliver you from the way of evil,
From the man who speaks perverse things, Prov. 5:12 And say: "How I have hated instruction,
And my heart despised correction! 13 I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers,
Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! The Bible, as well
humans, can be out teachers! Prov. 5:14 I was on the verge of total ruin, In
the midst of the assembly and congregation."[NJV]. Not just ruin, but
"total" ruin! Being thankful to
God can help us keep wealth! Cf. Deuteronomy 8:17 "then you say in your heart, `My power
and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.' All good things are
from God. Cf. James 1:17 Every
gift which is good, and every perfect boon, is from above, and comes
down from the Father, who is the source of all Light. In Him there is no
variation nor the slightest suggestion of change.[WEY]. Deuteronomy 8:18 "And you shall remember the LORD your
God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His
covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. In the making and
keeping of wealth, the thoughts play a big part. It would seem, that
the "power to get wealth", is one of the gifts of God! When people only seek for wealth, they miss much and get very little! Cf. 2 Chronicles 1:11 And God said to Solomon: "Because
this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the
life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life--but have asked wisdom and
knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have
made you king-- We should also ask
ourselves, do we want wealth just for ourselves? 2 Chronicles
1:12 "wisdom and knowledge are
granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none
of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the
like." [NKJV]. When we seek wealth
for more than just ourselves, we can get more than just the wealth! Another way to
keep wealth is to spend it wisely! Cf. James 4:3
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it
on your pleasures. Pro. 23:20 Do not mix with winebibbers, Or with gluttonous
eaters of meat; 21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come
to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe a man with rags. Know that it is
much easier to spent money, than to save it! Cf. Pro. 21:17 ¶ He who loves pleasure will
be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.[NKJV]. Proverbs 21:20 ¶
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but
a foolish man spendeth it up. Luke 15:13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered
all he had and took his journey into a far country, and there he squandered
his property in loose living. Luke 15:14 And when he had spent everything, a great
famine arose in that country, and he began to be in want. [RSV].
It is good to
have a clear head, when dealing with money! Cf. Prov.20: 1 ¶ Wine is a mocker, Strong drink
is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise. Proverbs 23:29 ¶ Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause?
Who has redness of eyes? Proverbs 23:30 Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go
in search of mixed wine. Proverbs 23:31 Do not look on the wine when it is red, When
it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; Proverbs 23:32 At the last it bites like a serpent, And
stings like a viper. Proverbs 23:33 Your eyes will see strange things, And
your heart will utter perverse things. [NKJV]. Wine and immoral women can take all of your
time and money! Cf. Hosea
4:11 "Harlotry, wine, and new wine
enslave the heart. [NKJV].
