Welcome to Frogmorton!

A Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter filk and humor site

Is it time to mothball Frogmorton? Originally this was designed as a LOTR fansite (thus the name).  Tolkien fandom is cyclical; it's gone through at least three peaks that I can think of --- the first when LOTR first arrived (sometimes pirated) in the U.S., the second during the D&D-fueled Great Fantasy Revival of the 1970s and early 1980s, and the third fueled buy the movies and now abating.  I'm sure another peak is coming; they seem to come once a decade or so.  But I noticed that I'd barely updated this site in years -- the front page, until today (the 1st  of Halimath), was filled with a review of ROTK that, although possibly amusing, was written in 2003.

In the meantime almost everything added to this site has had to do with Harry Potter fandom (see photoshops below, and HP filk at The Three Broomsticks).  And the three of us who contributed perhaps 90% of the material here have been directing our energies elsewhere lately: Dulcinea and Fool of a Took have been writing -- and publishing -- fiction, impressing me beyond words; soon I'll be starting fan sites for them, no doubt.  Fool of a Took also keeps a couple of websites going: The Green Dragon (mostly, but not entirely, Harry Potter) and a LiveJournal under the name alaskaravenclaw.  I (Robin Smallburrow) have a similarly pseudonymous LJ of my own, under the name Naill Renfro.  I've actually posted quite a lot of stuff to it over the past few months that I might have put here had it been LOTR fandom.  There's a parody of the first Narnia film and another of Goblet of Fire that some people seem to have found amusing.

Over the last couple of days I've given this site a thorough cleaning, scrubbing out a lot of link rot and posting some new stuff -- new filk, lots of new links, some other stuff here and there.  Take a look around, and ná Elbereth veria le, ná elenath dín síla erin rád o chuil lín.  And check Naill Renfro's blog every once in a while -- when I do update this site again, I'll post the news there as well.
