From the Floating Log at Frogmorton

Shelob (Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot)

She looks kinda like a scream in a hobbit’s dream
She’s a big ugly spider and she’s really mean.
Shelob, she sits in her lair
And awaits what comes crawlin’ up her back stair.

When you think of every move those two hobbits make
Taking Gollum as their guide was their big mistake.
He shows them halfway up a long winding stair
And it plunges into darkness under Shelob’s lair.

I can see them stuck at last in a murky cave
In a place you’d only go if you’re dumb or brave
Samwise, you’d better take care
Something’s flapping softly toward you through
Shelob’s lair.
Samwise, you’d better take care
You never know what might come creeping up those
stinkin’ stairs.

Sometimes, I think it’s a sin
When it’s time for poor Frodo to get injured again...
