The ground is bare of snow, tulips up
Topic: snow

There are only a few piles of snow in the shadiest parts of the yard where it was piled the highest.i?? The grass, leaves and remains of last years plants are crushed flat to the ground, brown and grey, dressed in nettings of white where the snow mold grew.i?? It's time to gently rake the yard to expose the new grass, and pull the excess leaf mulch out of the perennial beds.i?? The tulips have pushed up new leaves about 8 inches high next to the house foundation.i?? A few of them have leaf mulch impaled on their pointed ends, and they are hefting the mulch above them as if they are little green muscle-bound power lifters performing a military press.

There are some other smaller bulbs sending up leaves, but I don't remember what they are.i?? Probably crocus, but who knows.i?? I'll have to wait until they bloom to find out.i??i?? Then I won't label them because surely I'll remember next year.i?? Not.
