FRENCH - GERMAN - DUTCH
1986 TEST SETS

Garbage Pail Kids were released in 1986 as a 44 card 'a' variation test set in France and Belgium. The series was manufactured at Topps Ireland and several test sets were released to different countries. The names and writing on the back is in French and the cards
measure 2 1/8 X 3 inches and are non-die cut (peeling from the edges). A few years later, two sets of "Les Crados" were released in France and an All-New Series set released in 2004.

Garbage Pail Kids were released in 1986 as a 44 card "a" variation test set in Germany and Denmark. Test sets for France and Belgium were also released in the same structure at the same time ... and manufactured at Topps Ireland. The cards measure 2 1/8 X 3 inches and are non-die cut (peeling from the edges), and were sold in the same celophane wrapper as the European releases during that time. The "test" set is a direct reproduction of the UK 1st series set with the names on the front of the cards, and the writing on the back of the cards changed to German. Years later in 1994, a set of "Die Total Kaputtan Kids" was released in Germany, showcasing further GPK sets.

1.
Along with the France and Belgium test set releases, the German cards can Only be found with "A" Names. Only English speaking countries like the U.S., UK, Australia and New Zealand seem to have both 'a' and 'b' cards for some reason; this also makes the test set smaller, much like the first U.K. test set with only "a" cards and boxes.

2. AlThough the set is a reproduction of the 1st U.K. release, the names on the front of the cards, and the Writing on the back of the cards is In German. The logo still remains Garbage Pail Kids for the test releases.

3. The set contains No Puzzle, much like the sets it was reproduced from.

4. The Checklist Backs mention a card # 42 'Checkliste' that can be found, but only 3 variations backs for cards 5a, 8a and 29a can be found with award backs and checklist backs, the same variations as the U.S., UK and New Zealand card backs.

5. Card 25a Frank N. STEIN has the Same Name as the U.S., UK. Australia and New Zealand 3rd series card 112a FRANK N. Stein.

6. Card Examples: 1a Onkel DRACULA, 33a Wilder WILLI and 41a Killer-KARL.

7. Card 21a Virus-IRIS has the Same Name as its UK counterpart 21a Virus IRIS. Other names that come very close to the U.S. and UK names are cards 27a JENNY Genie and 27a JENNY Genius, cards 34a Banana-ANNA and 34b ANNA Banana and cards 35a Rocker ROBERT and 35b Rockin' ROBERT.
