CALL FOR PAPERS

RAW STOCKtm Celebrating Cinema, Oakland, CA is a new film festival focusing on filmmakers of color in the Oakland/East Bay area. Based out of Oakland's Mills College, RAW STOCKtm is now scheduled for November 8-13, 1999. The film festival's main theme is "Race, Gender, Culture, Image: Who Owns It? Who Defines It?" With this in mind, the first four days of Festival Week will highlight a specific element of the theme: Monday, Nov. 8th, RACE; Tuesday Nov. 9th, GENDER; Wednesday, Nov. 10th, CULTURE and; Thursday, Nov. 11th, IMAGE.


THIS IS A CALL FOR PAPERS
to be presented during Festival Week.


FORMAT
Each day a paper selected from those submitted, will be presented with a corresponding film or series of shorts during that afternoon and/or evening, to be followed by a discussion.

REQUIREMENTS

Paper submission is open to all undergraduates, graduates, scholars, students and instructors with a solid interest in film/media and its subsequent impact on how "we" perceive ourselvs as to Race, Gender, Culture & Image, and how we can alter/remedy that perception.

Please e-mail or snail mail abstracts only for consideration by Sept. 15, 1999. All must be typed, and double-spaced.
