On Tuesday, May 11 the Today show will feature Alan Alda, Jamie Farr, Mike Farrell, Gary Burghoff, William Christopher, Larry Gelbart and Loretta Swit. They will be there to reminisce about M*A*S*H and you can submit a question by going to Today on MSNBC. Today airs on NBC weekday mornings at 7am EST. M*A*S*H Ranked #1 Military Show in TV Guide

The January 10-16 issue of TV Guide ranked the greatest military shows of all time and M*A*S*H was #1. The article included a picture of a 1972 issue cover with the original cast and the 1983 issue cover for the finale.

Season 3 DVD for Region 2 and 4 Release Dates

According to HMV.co.uk, the Season 3 DVD set for Region 2 is scheduled for release on March 15, 2004. Region 2 is the encoding used by Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East (including Egypt). According to Michael D's Region 4 DVD Info Page, the Season 3 set for Region 4 is scheduled for release on February 18, 2004. Region 4 is the format for Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean.

MASHback - a M*A*S*H Remake?

Variety recently reported that CBS is sitting on a proposed special, MASHback, which tells the M*A*S*H story for the first three seasons. The author is Gary Markowitz, who has called Larry Gelbart "dad" -- "since I was 6 years old." Markowitz co-wrote original episodes "George," "Payday," and "Some 38th Parallels," and wrote "Margaret's Engagement." The special would be cast with new actors in the classic roles. Larry Gelbart has reportedly given it his OK but has not been involved in writing the material. The project was initiated by Myra Model, then at CBS. And if it goes forward as a movie, Markowitz says she will be attached as a producer with him. Update The Variety article is unclear as to whether the special is a remake of the storylines or a "behind the scenes" of the show. The article says "it would be cast with new actors in the classic MASH roles"; however, it also says Gelbart has "given CBS an OK to portray him". Anyone with further info, please email me.

TV Land will be reairing the ET in TV Land show about M*A*S*H tonight which was first shown in March. The hour long show includes interviews with series stars Alan Alda, Wayne Rogers, Mike Farrell, Gary Burghoff and William Christopher. According to TV Land's web site, it starts at 10pm EST; however, according to TV Guide, it starts at 10:30pm EST. So check your local listings or TV Guide for times and channels.

Local RV Park Gets Blip on 'Radar'

The Citrus County Chronicle Online has an article about Gary Burghoff being the new celebrity spokesman for Nature Coast Landings RV Resort. The RV resort is near Crystal River, Florida. "My main function is to just tell people how wonderful this resort is," he said. Burghoff has been RVing since 1982.

IGT unveiled a M*A*S*H-themed slot machine at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas which took place Sept. 16-18 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Gary Burghoff, Bob Denver, Barbara Eden, Jeff Foxworthy, Kevin Nealon and cartoonist Scott Adams were among the many celebrities on hand to promote some of the products at the show.

Gary Burghoff, William Christopher, Jamie Farr, and Loretta Swit will be at Spooky World on October 24, 25, and 26. Autograph signings begin at 6pm. Spooky World is a Halloween Theme Park which also has a number of celebrity guests. It is in Foxboro, Massachusetts and opens every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 6pm from October 3rd through November 1st. For more information, check out the Spooky World web site.

Gary Burghoff stars in Sylvia from May 30 through June 22 at the Allen-Hovde Theatre in Pepin, Wisconsin. The play, put on by the Lake Pepin Players, also features his talented daughter Gena as Sylvia. The newer play by A.R. Gurney (also author of Love Letters) is about a married couple who move to Manhattan after 22 years of child rearing in the suburbs. Performances are at 2 pm and 8 pm Thursdays, 8 pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 pm Sundays. There are articles about the play, including quotes from Gary, in The Winona Daily News and RiverTowns.net. In interview bits posted on RiverTowns.net, Gary Burghoff mentions the status of Pets: Part of the Family, the PBS show which he has hosted. The show is "on pause," he said, noting that corporate funding has been hard to come by since the 9/11 disaster even though 300 stations had picked up the series. "It's caught in the economy," he explained. Gary Burghoff was the host of the first two seasons of the PBS show which focused on pets and their remarkable relationships with people. Gary Burghoff will be starring in Marvin and Mel, a new play by George Tricker and Neil Rosen. The comedy focuses on two formerly popular TV writers who begin working anonymously behind their "front" - young and pretty Latina, Marie Gomez, who suddenly goes from delivering sandwiches to taking meetings at ABC, CBS and NBC. Hallmark Channel Gets Broadcast Rights to M*A*S*H
According to an article in The Hollwood Reporter, the The Hallmark Channel bought the cable TV rights to M*A*S*H from Twentieth Television in a deal said to be worth at least $60 million. The show will begin airing in Fall 2003.

The M*A*S*H 30th anniversary special aired on Fox on May 17. The special included all of the surviving regular cast members and archive interviews with Larry Linville and McLean Stevenson. It also had clips from the show and interviews with people who actually served as doctors and nurses during the Korean War.
