American Legion Gem Boys State is a political science experience for juniors in Idaho High Schools. The program strives to educate young men about the three branches of government: legislative, judicial and executive, on the three levels of local government in Idaho: city, county and state.

Boys State is a week-long program held every summer at Gowen Field in Boise. This year's program will run from Sunday, June 6 to Saturday, June 12. The week will culminate with a two day governing excercise at the Idaho State Capitol.

Boys State is a "hands on" experience, where young men learn about government by forming city, county and state governments. Gem Boys State is in its 56th year.
