This is the place to come to read about people and places and things,
in the form of poems, songs and short stories.
This
is me about the time I began to sing seriously. The first I can remember is after my family moved from Texas to Phoenix, Arizona.
We lived in a tent outside of Phoenix. We were poor (we didn't know it then because everyone we knew were also poor) but we
managed to scrimp and save enough money to scrape by. Dad and my big brother did odd jobs to get a little money.
We
would sometimes go to a nearby park to relax. Part of my playing was to sing a song I knew called, "I Don't Want your Green
Back Dollar." It was a cute little song and I was a cute little singer and many of the people there would give me pennies,
nickels and even dimes for my effort. After we left the park, I gave the money to my dad and he used it to buy food for us.
I started to school at age four
and right away enjoyed English and Music. After I got into junior high school, I started seriously writing poems and songs.
After I learned to play the guitar, the song writing escalated.
I graduated from the ninth grade
twice and finished the tenth grade, at least, half of it before I seriously dropped out of school.
I have had several country music
bands and my wife and I briefly owned a night club in Modesto, California. She began singing a few years ago and we are having
a ball now, entertaining old folks at senior citizen centers.
Anyhoo, I am beginning to doubt
any of my writings including one full length book named, "A Detective Story," (the link is posted below) will ever be published
so I am posting them right here.
