The Relicman

Well, maybe not the real Relicman but I do my best. In the spring of 1999 I began the most addictive hobby I've ever had. Living in Fauquier County Virginia puts me right in the middle of a relic hunters dream. I bought a White's 5900/Di ProSL Metal Detector from a friend of mine and started learning how to use it. It took me until mid summer before I could get it set up and running right. I am still learning the different searching modes available and have finally mastered a new mode that gives me a little more depth. Now I'll have to go back and re-hunt the places I've already hunted. There's no telling what I've walked over. To me, this hobby is like living out my childhood dreams of digging buried treasure. Sometimes it's trash and sometimes it actually IS treasure. I mainly like to hunt for Civil War relics but I'm not against finding the occasional coin or ring. I am fortunate enough to have quite a few good places to hunt. They range from old house sites in West Virginia, beach hunting in North Carolina and quite a few 1700/1800's sites close to home.
