Welcome to my page all about Cleveland Indians catcher, AJ Hinch. First drafted out of Stanford University as an All-American in 1996, AJ quickly rose through the ranks of the A's minor league system, spending only one full year in the minors.  AJ performed well his  freshman season, enough to be the A's starting catcher most of the season.  Hinch struggled a bit in his sophmore season, spending most of the season in Oakland, before being sent to the A's AAA team in Montreal, before being brought back to Oakland in August when Ramon Hernandez went on the DL.The stint in Montreal did AJ well, who returned to raise his average with the A's, before being sent back down when Ramon  came back. September 6th, AJ was called  up again, to finish the season with the big club. AJ spent the majority of the 2000 season with the A's AAA club in Sacramento, with a late season call up to Oakland.  He was traded to the Kansas City Royals on January 9th, 2001 as part of a three team, six player deal. He signed a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians in December of 2002. You can read the blurb about it here.

When asked about how well the A's team got along, and Giambi's comments about it, AJ responded "Jason was telling the truth. It's really amazing how close this team is internally. We hang out all the time at home and on the road. A lot of us lived in the same apartment complex in Pleasanton. We represent the true concept of a team. That's why we will be a good team for years to come."
